Sam Shephard Has Died

Better thought of as a playwright, actually.

Regardless, very much dead.

I'm so sad about this. He was brilliant, and so fucking sexy.

I saw a local community theater group do True West when I was in high school, and even with amateur actors in a small town production, it blew me away.

Yah. I've seen quite a few small-town, high-school and college productions of his work and all were enjoyable. When a writer has something worthwhile to say it often compensates for lackluster or mediocre performance.

Extremely sad and even sadder to learn it was from ALS.

I can't imagine the horror of suffering from that disease, and there was a time only a few months ago when I had symptoms fully consistent with that possible diagnosis. Thankfully, subsequent MRIs ruled it out.

Also, thankfully, Chuck Yeager lives!

I participated in a reading of Tooth of Crime once. He was a unique writer. I saw at least one production of Cowboy Mouth.

Unique viewpoint, for certain.
He kept us company, and he left much for us,
before he was parted from us.
