Sam and Lindsey

Why, oh why the children????? My number one respnsibility in life once I became pregnant was to protect, love and care for my child. Parents are suppose to protect their children not bring them harm.

Stories like this are just so heartwrenching

It is sad, and it is classic DV. By taking the children and killing them he insures he has not only hurt his wife in a way nothing else could, but also that he can entertain himself with the idea of control he exerted over her and the rest of her life by killing them. It is happening more and more and yet the courts fail to understand that fathers who abuse their wives are in many instances a danger to the children for this same reason. In nearly every case I have known, there has been a history of DV that the custody courts over rules in favour of allowing the father to still exercise his parental right to have access with his children, often unsupervised. They think the parental right outweighs any possible risk to the children.

I agree with Charlie Daniels on dealing with this mess

As far as I'm concerned there ain't no excuse
For the raping and the killing and the child abuse
And I've got a way to put an end to all that mess

Just take them rascals out in the swamp
Put 'em on their knees and tie 'em to a stump
Let the rattlers and the bugs and the alligators do the rest

I agree. For all the disgruntled father's rights advocates, I submit this case. You have to basically eat babies for breakfast before they think maybe you should not have unsupervised access now. And even then...

sick and sad, humanity at its lowest.

Yep. I had to support a client in court in Oz and her husband had not only physically abused her during the marriage, but also the children and it was documented by the hospital. The father never denied abusing the children and even told his wife he would not have a problem doing something to them to get at her. Well the courts told her she was insensitive to try and stop him having unsupervised visitation and awarded him every 2nd weekend and holidays. He did what he always said he would by beginning to sexually assault the children on visits, then eventually didn't return them one weekend. By the time police located him, he had killed them and all he had to say was 'it was about time the bitch got what she had coming to her'.

I hope their father experiences a violent and painful death in his prison cell.

Don't worry he will. The boys in prison don't take kindly to those that commit crimes against children, and trust me, they will ALL know what he did. :D

I dont understand how some bastard like this can even born!!

I agree with WD on this one "Let the rattlers and the bugs and the alligators do the rest"

If anybody ever touched my little girl in any perverted way i would beat the shit outta them. Worst if he someone killed her i would see to it he wouldn't survive either.

I agree with you, they don't. But, all of this is starting to make sense, now. See, he has had so many stories of where the children were, ever since the beginning. He said they were safe with a wealthy family...he said they were living with the Amish over in Jamesport...he even said he had killed them.

But, without bodies, and without anything at all to prove any of these stories, all they could get him on was parental kidnapping. So finally, that's what they convicted him of, in hopes he would come to his senses and say where the children were.

But, he never has. In fact, it's been worse, while he's in jail. He had phone interview with one newspaper where he mentioned things that led police to think they were with family. One day on the way to court, he held up a sign with a name on it. That made the police go out again and search for their bodies in that area.

Police were without any clues. The one thing they had to go on was that only he knew where they were and if they were alive or dead. He milked that fact for the years he has been in jail. It seemed every anniversary of their disappearance would bring up yet another story.

So, as it turns out, yet another court decision was in his favor. They didn't want him in the general population, for fear he would be killed. Then, they might never know where Sam and Lindsey were.

So, he has been in solitary for all this time. Today, I heard on a radio show, and they said it was only a rumor that police had threatened to put him into the general population, if he didn't tell where the kids were. That's supposed to be how they found the shallow graves.

It's not yet a fact that the remains are of Sam and Lindsey, but they have already told their mother of the discovery, and I don't think they would take such measures, without some sort of proof. To tell her they only think it's her kids would be very cruel.

So the rumor seems true. It looks like Porter finally broke. And if the rumor is true, I just hope they didn't give him any other deals, just to find out where they were. This story has most everybody in this city wanting his head. He's been laughing at the courts for far too long.

A radio station I listen to raised $5,000 as a reward last year, in hopes that someone who knew where the kids were would come forward. But, nobody did. Now, it seems the money will most likely go towards their funeral.

We don't do things in a civilized society, but I sure wish they would go ahead and put him in the general population with the crazed murderers just aching to get at him. I say let them benefit society by giving him what he deserves.

But, we in society just don't do that sort of thing. And because of that, we actually can bread such evil as Daniel Porter. That would be seen as similar to what was done to those dogs in the Michael Vic case.

Actually, I don't think it's the same at all. Those dogs were innocent and had done nothing to be treated like they were. That's cruel and inhumane treatment of a dumb animal. But, Daniel Porter isn't a dumb animal. An animal, yes, but not dumb. So, I think that is a perfect method for his demise.

Even better...Let the men in prison beat him to within an inch of his life, then let those surviving dogs have him as a victory meal. Shit, video the whole thing and let the whackos that wanna watch pay a fee for it. The money raised would go to the family.

And, the next time some crazed asshole like Porter tries to use the court system against itself...sit him down and show him what will happen to him, if he doesn't do the right thing. This shit of giving the criminals every damn right of law, just because we are a civilized society, has got to stop.

I feel better now. LOL.

If this sort of thing ever became a problem with K, and the courts wouldn't support me, me and the kids would disappear one night. If non-custodial parent can disappear with children, so can I. I'm not going to sit, wringing my hands, whining about the courts, while my children are scarred forever.

This is an horrendous story and sadly not uncommon as Cat has noted above. I hate to think how many times stories with similar aspects have been reported here by the police and media .

DVS I read your opening post before retiring last night, then googled for more detail. I was curious because I am currently reading a book by Dr Helen Morrison a forensic psychologist with an emphasis on profiling murderers , though 'specialising' in serial killers. There were remnants in my current memory alluding to the psychological make-up of those that murder that are not identified as criminally insane that seemed at first glance consistent to some of her theories within the story as presented.

Two things stood out to me in the additional news articles .

The first being that "After his arrest on the kidnapping charges, Porter told authorities several stories about what he had done with his children, including that he had cut them up and that he had strangled them." So I imagine a ploy by Dan Porter to be cited as criminally insane and avoid incarceration in a mainstream correctional facility . Plus the potential to absolve him of the death penalty should he be found guilty on further charges. Though I am not naive enough to think that it is ever that simple. What really confounds me though is the inherent evil to make a game out of his actions.

The second thing that stood out for me was "Tina Porter said that when she met Dan Porter, she became concerned because the children weren’t with him. She said Dan Porter then tried to get her to drive the pickup into the woods, telling her that he had stashed $50,000 there and wanted to go get it. She refused." Though he was originally detained not only for the disappearance of the children but also it was done with intent to terrorize his wife. At first glance seems a little inconsistent to me. Guess really this only further emphasizes his shifting stance . I am confused as to why he was not prosecuted for intent to murder Tina Porter as well.

I am not alluding to anything specific from this post. In my heart I wish things like this never happened. That children like Sam & Lindsey didn't have to suffer . Understanding to some degree why may prove in the longer term a more finite point of intervention before precious lives are lost or destroyed once again.

It's been confirmed this morning. The remains are of Sam and Lindsey. Dental records were used for identification, because DNA would take much longer. Now, let's see Dan Porter squirm out of this one.

What luck! It just so happens that I have a very good friend who's a corrections officer in the very prison in which Porter is incarcerated. LOL, it would be so nice if some evening Porter's cell door would be left unlocked. Not so Porter knows, but a nasty little rumor would be passed around the cell block...

OK, I know it can't be done. Even if it could be done, I'd never ask my friend to risk his job over a piece of shit like Porter. Actually, it might happen without my friend's help. As much talking as Porter has been doing about how he's made the police spend lots of money looking for his kids and how he's got them by the balls and on and on...there's bound to be somebody willing to slip up and allow somebody access to him.

He's been boasting for several years now and laughing at how anything he says would cause the police to act...like they were his puppets. He's been thumbing his nose at them, and taking it a little too far. Even if your police departments are very trustworthy and devoted to securing the safety of even the most vile rat scum, there's that weakest link that might snap.

OK, I'm dreaming again. The prison he's in is a max security prison, built in 1997. Crossroads Correctional Center, in my home town. I'm sorry to say I don't think anything will happen to him. There's still pride in the hearts of all of the guards, and in their gleaming, new facility.

It's not like Leavenworth, where that woman dog trainer let a convicted murderer schmooze her into hiding him in a dog crate and bribe the guards to look the other way as they escaped. They were free for nearly two weeks before they got caught hiding in Tennessee. No...no such luck there.

They'll probably move him down to Kansas City, for the murder trial. He'll be in a county jail. Sht, a lot of things could happen in there. There's always that slimnest of hopes...the benefit of the doubt. Hey, maybe Murphy follows other people around, besides me.

OK, I can wish, can't I...dream even? LOL. :D

actually, the truth is they put the people who do things like this to children in a part of the prison called 'protective custody' they do not put them in general population anymore. they put them in a special part of the prison where everyone in there are in there for basically the same crime (crimes as children as the victim) their visit times with family are even different than those in the "general population" i know this because my best friend is in prison (not for anything to do with children). so as much as everyone would like to believe these animals "get what they deserve" in prison, it is no longer true.....although the guards surely are not nice to them, but if they treat them too badly they are fired, so again, they don't get what they deserve.....

my god.. I'm just.. speechless and sick.. and angry.. angry at this madman who took the greatest gift life gave him and used it for whatever the reason.. I dont honestly give a fuck what his sick, twisted reasoning was. I cant get their faces out of my head... to imagine.. no.. I cant, I have to stop myself.. and I'm angry at god.. or fate or .. life in general that I cant ever be a parent and he does this to his... give me 5 minutes alone with him and my crochet hooks... just 5 minutes...
