Last New Year's Eve Sam asked me to marry him. I told him then that I was not ready to get married again, that I had not fully healed from the first time, and that if he still wanted me, to ask again in six months.
When he took me to dinner last night at the same romantic restaurant where we went on our first date, I figured that perhaps that was a sign that he did indeed still want me.
Yes, he asked again, in that bashful but confident manner of his that just makes me melt. And yes, I said, like Molly Bloom at the end of Ullyses, yes, I said, yes, yes, yes.
I love him so much. I love him more than I ever thought I could love anyone, he has lifted my heart into a whole new realm. And the way we has stood beside me during the last couple of months has shown me the true nature of his character. This is the man I have always longed for, the man I want to call husband, the man I want to be father to my children.
~~Some day my prince will come
Some day we'll meet again
And away to his castle we'll go
To be happy forever I know
Some day when spring is here
We'll find our love anew
And the birds will sing
And wedding bells will ring
Some day when my dreams come true ~~

We stayed up half the night talking about all the issues involved with getting married.
We are not going to have a big wedding, I did that before and it was a nightmare. We will have a simple ceremony with a few friends and family. Sam went and bought that expensive Hawaiian cruise for my birthday, so we will get married in late September and that will be our honeymoon.
We want to have at least one baby, the sooner the better. I am not getting younger.
No, I will not change my name again. I offered to compromise and take his name if we could both put an -ski on the end of it, but he rejected that, so I remain CarolineOh and will not become CarolinePee.
We will live in my apartment for awhile, but will want to get a house before we have a baby. This place is a condo, I own it, and it's value has gone up quite a bit in the last couple of years, so I ought to make a nice profit. For those who know Detroit, we are hoping to find something we can afford in the Indian Village area.
We are going to go tell my Mom this afternoon. I sincerely hope no one in my family raises any objections, but if they do, that is their problem, it won't deter us a bit. I know my sister Elizabeth will be on our side, she has told me over and over again what an idiot I was for not saying yes the first time.
I am so happy that I feel like I am floating on air. Thank you all for letting me share my happiness with you on this most beautiful of mornings.
