On December 23rd, my best friend passed away trying to get uo to greet my brother and I at the door. He couldn't do it and passed on. Who is my best friend you ask? My dog named Lucky. My brother and I will not ever hear the jingle of his collar anymore, him playing with his food, him laying next to each of us when one leaves the house. When I moved away, I let my brother and my grandma have him. I couldn't take him away because I didn't want them to be depressed or lonely. Even though he knew I will always come back to visit and eventually move back home permanently to live with my brother. I only got to spend time with him for a few days and in those few days he will always be our little brother and my baby boy. It is goodbye for now Lucky, we will be together again when my time is up my best friend and know that my brother, grandma and I will miss you, but never forgotten.

I'm very sorry for your loss. I know very well how difficult this is. It's like losing one of your children. You have my deepest sympathies. *hugs* You will definitely be seeing him again when the time comes.

*hugs* I lost one of my children 3 or 4 yeaars ago to a miscarriage due to my period.

Oh honey ♡♡♡ I'm so sorry for your loss. I'm terribly sorry for the timing as well. -*** hugs tight***
Nothing can make it better, but try to hang on to the feeling that he knew he was loved.

This really bites :( Pets are like family, and losing one so close to the holidays hurts deeply. Not an easy thing to deal with. So sorry for your loss.

I'm so sorry

Having rescued dogs over decades I can tell you it's very hard to see your "best friends" pass. I've had to put a few down because I hated to see them suffer. It hurts. It never goes away. But I take solace in this.....

After a few weeks of mourning I eventually remember how many animals are tortured, mishandled, abused and homeless. You gave your best friend a GREAT life. Your family loved him dearly and that was the daily gift he received. He was LUCKY to have you.

After I mourn the loss I celebrate his life and then I go pay tribute to his life by rescuing another one of his "kin". Even though they may not look or have similar looks or personalities. They will never be the original but you may be reminded of your best friend and his memory will live on through your new buddy.

Best wishes and Merry Christmas. He's still with you.

Thank you for thinking of me. *hugs tight* I will be okay. I will try to hang on to the feeling that he knew he was loved by a lot of people.

Thank you for thinking of me and I'll be okay. They are like family like you said and losing one is like losing a part of yourself.

Thank you for thinking of me and this post made me cry because my brother and I talked about adopting the dogs from the pound when we have healed. Thank you so much for the post. I will make sure to adopt and rescue his breed as much as I can. Because I read somewhere online that his breed is abandoned in another country. It broke my heart when I read that. One country they are abandoned because of their barking. I was like that's cruel to the dog who loved you unconditionally from the moment you have bonded with them. I am sorry it's really hard for me to type a reply back while trying to stop the tears from flowing. Even though when I adopt or rescue a dog, I will always remember him because he is the original but I will make it my goal to adopt and rescue these wonderful pets. No matter the cost, they deserve a loving home and family.

Best wishes to you too and Merry Christmas.

I know how you feel. ☹️

My sincerest condolences on the loss of your friend. May you gain some solace from the knowledge that you gave him a good life.

Thank you for thinking of me and I'll be okay. It's never easy to lose a pet but it's how life works. *hugs*

Yeah, I'll be experiencing that all too soon myself, my dog is almost 13, has arthritis and last week he had a fairly bad seizure. As much as I'm going to hate doing if if he has another seizure I'll have to have him euthanized because I don't want him to suffer.
