I'm saddened by her passing. She was both the first fantasy writer and the first science fiction writer I read, and I still have warm memories of the Witch World, the Zero Stone series, and of course her incomparable Salariki. Many a fond childhood hour was spend in her company. And she was kind enough to write a 13-year-old foal a letter in return to my fan mail.

Rest in peace.

"The Zero Stone" and "Uncharted Stars" remain, to this day, two of my favorite books ever. Science fiction and fantasy didn't and still don't get any better than Andre Norton.
