Yesterday while I was running around town and I then tuned into the news of Dale Earnhart's death I missed a news story that really upset me today.

Hall of Famer and third baseman Eddie Matthews died yesterday.

He was the only player to play with the Braves in all three cities they were located in, Boston, Milwaukee and Atlanta.

I know there will be a tribuite worthy of him when the season starts but for this Braves fan it was a sad day.

A Hall of Fame legend. It is sad Juliangel for all baseball fans. And it happened so quickly too- well, at least from when they announced it on the news the day before!

I'm glad you started this thread. I wanted to do it but thought I would wait until tonight because of the other death.

Although I have been a lifelong Phillies fan I always have appreciated quality players. Eddie was definitely one of them. I have a baseball hit by him in 1964 at then Connie Mack stadium in Philly. It is one of my cherished positions.
