S-A-T-U-R-D-A-Y Night!

Hehhehe just lit the grill here...tonight is steaks, with mixed veggies and a nice cabernet

double thick pork chops with homemade blackberry bbq sauce, french rolls, caramalized onions and a big, green salad, too.

And, of course, a mature Zinfandel . . . ;)

Ooooo can we get a recipe for the blackberry bbq sauce? Presuming its good on chicken as well?

You guys are making my mouth water. It was store bought macaroni salad and cold pizza here. Not up to cooking.

This one isn't mine. I do have some published but must acknowledge the mastery of the chap who concocted this gem:

Blackberry BBQ Sauce
Sunset Magazine had a barbecue contest a few years back and this sauce was the grand prize winner. Not long after, a group of friends got together with ribs from the two best ribs places in the area for a ribs taste test. We got a variety of their sauces and I also made the Sunset recipe. There was no contest. The sauces from the ribs joints couldn't hold a candle to the Sunset blackberry BBQ sauce. This is the best!

This makes 1 1/3 cups:
o 1 1/4 cups blackberries
o 1/4 cup catsup
o 1/4 cup honey
o 1/4 cup packed brown sugar
o 1/4 cup minced ginger
o 1 teaspoon pepper
o 1 or 2 teaspoons hot sauce, to taste
o salt, to taste
Whirl all in a blender until the berries are pureed.
Pour into a 1 quart glass measuring cup. Cover loosely with a microwave-safe plastic wrap, leaving a vent for steam.
Cook in a microwave oven at full power, stirring occasionally until thick. As I recall, it takes about 5 minutes. Might be a little longer. Do it by eye.

 You mean you want me to go to California? Okay. I always wanted to see San Francisco.

Uh, that's about 8 hours north of us. Pretty location but the City has fallen on hard times since the early '70's. Really, it's a drug-ridden mess now, and that's a crime, given the history, the old culture, the beautiful setting, etc. L.A. may be brash and crass, but we run a much tighter ship. Do some research on who recovered from their major earthquakes faster, and why.

*cries* Don't ruin my beautiful dream!

Maybe by the time I can afford to go there, it will be in renewal.

Oh come to SoCal. Our symphony orchestra is better than theirs, so are our concert hall (s). Our museums are world class and we have the Hollywood Bowl. There is nothing, nothing more romantic than a concert under the stars with your own picnic in your seats. Cold chicken, fresh fruit, chilled white wine and Mozart. What could be better? I'll take a week off and give you the native's guided tour. You won't believe it.

But... I want to see the hills, and the houses, and the bay, and I want to believe that the Charmed ones live there! (This is a deep seated desire that goes back decades, and I'm only 33.)

Oh! You don't want San Francisco, you want Vancouver. Hills, houses, a much better bay and lush, fecund forests to the water's edge. The only thing San Francisco has over Duluth is the Golden Gate Bridge. Whoopee-doo.

No, you miss the point. From early in my life the magic was attached to San Francisco. Even in a decayed state, I will see it one day. Night. :rose:

I missed posting on Saturday... but I had a good reason. Great concert! :D

Cool....who'd you see?

For the first time in months, I had no gigs and no child. I had the entire evening to myself to do anything I wanted to. After sitting here posting and watching bad movies, it has become painfully obvious that I also have no life. :(

In order of appearance:

Tegan & Sara, Regina Spektor, The B-52s, and Cyndi Lauper :D

Sounds cool. I've always loved Lauper. Somewhere early in her career, she made the decision to sing like that (and act goofy as well), but on the rare instances I heard her really belt it out, she's just wonderful (and I kind of like her goofiness as well). The B-52s must be a blast live! :D

All the surviving Italian relatives together at our favorite Italian restaurant, tonight will look like a scene from The Godfather. Mangia!

Red and white checkered table clothes, candles dripping wax down green bottles in wicker. Make someone an offer...
