A particular favourite of mine.
I didn't think the cannons were much.
They were modern light Field Guns, perhaps ?

When Stereo first crept over the English shops' counters, there was a version (commentary by Deems Taylor, I think). They use real BIG canons !

In 1964 (?) the Proms featured a performance which also had cannons. These cannons were electrically detonated and there was a real argument about who should set them off; and musician or an electrician (each having their own Union). The row got so serious that the performance was nearly cancelled.
In the end agreement was reached by courtesy of the Trades Union Congress. A musician was temporarily given an Electrician's Union card and told to get on with it.
The performance nearly brought the House down.
It was deafening! The CD is in my collection!
