SPRINGFIELD, Ky. — With authorities closing in to seize 2,400 marijuana plants on John Robert Boone's farm two years ago, the legendary Kentucky outlaw vanished like a puff of smoke. The prolific grower has been dodging the law ever since, his folk-hero status growing with every sale of a "Run, Johnny, Run" T-shirt and click on his Facebook fan page.

I know there's a Plot Bunny in this. Or, should I say a "Pot Bunny"?:D

This is interesting. If he grew tobacco on his farms, he would be a wealthy and respected citizen. Since he grows pot, which is infinitely less harmful than tobacco, he is a criminal. Sometimes I think the government has its collective head up its ass. :(

Up until 2004, you raised tobacco only if you had a government quota. The quota was such that a very small plot of land would support a quota holder. It's my understanding that buyers would only buy quota tobacco.
If you decided to start growing tobacco in 2005, you had to find those who would sell you tobacco plant cuttings. Good luck if you weren't already growing tobacco.
Then, you had the problem of expertise. Those who grew tobacco weren't anxious to share their knowledge.
There have been studies to show that marijuana smoke contains even more tar than cigarette smoke, however, no nicotine.

Uh...yeah...what were we talking about?

I'm hungry. Anybody wanna make a food run?

Boone's Farm, huh? I wondered what happened to those dudes since they stopped making soda pop wines. :D
