I finally got a hold of Rumple. He has lost almost all vision and can only distinguish if a light is on or off if the bulb is bright enough. He has been up to Waco and the VA hospital there to learn to use software for the blind so he can possible come back and haunt, I mean, visit us.

He is in good spirits and sends his regards to everyone. He misses being here and hopes to be back soon.

I was going to give him my number since he lost it recently but he remarked that it wouldn't do any good. He would not be able to find it or read the number, much less program it in his phone. I suggested he get a young college girl to do his typing for him and such but he figured the Wife Unit would not think highly of the suggestion.

He also wanted to know if there was a braille version of Playboy on the market. :D

Will do. Thanks both of you for replying.

For those that don't know:

Rumply (Rumpled Foreskin) and I have been friends for years. We're the same age, served in Nam at close to the same time, that's where he lost the sight in one eye and had retina damage in the other. He met his wife in a VA hospital. She was a nurse.

I've only got one eye so we were always the two one eyed jacks. :D

He's been fighting the retina problems for thirty years and finally ran out of options. Luckily his is military related so he has full benefits and all the help the VA can give, which I am very glad for. Just out of curiosity, I checked the price on the JAWS reader for the blind. $895 for one program and $1095 for the other.

I also found a site with a free reader for the blind in the UK. it's sponsored by the Duke of York. If anyone needs more information, just let me know.

It would be nice if there was something we could do for him, as a group.

Keep us posted, Thanks Tx.

I hadn't known Rumple had these visual problems. He gave me advice on one of my stories once. I hope he's going to be Ok. Please pass along my regards. :rose::rose::rose:

Up until about a year ago, glasses were a help but then there was a tear in the retina. Several operations and treatments haven't help much since then. Now there is nothing left to do.

He still has his same old dry sense of humor so he will be ok. The wife unit will see to that.

Please give him a kiss for me. Hershey's will do if you prefer.

A  from the good little witch.

Best wishes for Rumple. He was definitely one of the good guys in Literotica.

I  Rumply, it's in my sig so it's got to be true. :)

He's a star who did a hell of alot of editing for me and he has the patience of a saint. I think of him often. Send him all the best from EL and I hope he's able to come back to us soon.

I'm glad he's learning the software for the blind and will be able to hang out with us again. While the treatments he's getting now might not work, they're always coming out with new stuff--news about it comes out all the time, so who knows?

Thanks Tex. Send him my greetings from south Florida as well.

The next time you talk with him give the Rev my best, Tx. Tell him the church congregation anxiously awaits his return and I've removed all the slugs and bus tokens from the collection plate. :D

What's wrong with bus tokens? They can usually be cashed in or handed out to indigent persons who need transportation. I hope you also removed the monopoly money.

Is that what that is? I wondered why Washington, Lincoln and Jefferson were wearing mustaches and top hats. :D

Please add my name to the list of well-wishers. Although my contact with him was brief, he struck me as one possessed of common sense and who practiced a polite "live and let live" attitude.

Thanks for the update Tx, I had no idea things were so bad.

Send him loving hugs and kisses from the wife and I, and hopefully we'll see him back on Lit in the not too distant future.:kiss:
