I felt discouraged, myself, when all these stories about the supposed bad effects of antidepressants started to come out. My son has been taking fluoxetine to offset the depressive effects of his ADHD drugs, and they haven't had that effect on him. When I was young, I suffered from depression, but back then they hadn't invented antidepressants, and since my mother was a devout Christian Scientist, I would never have had access to them anyway.

OTOH, I don't doubt that there are people who experience bad effects from antidepressants. I knew a woman back in Natchez, MS who said that she tended to beat people up when she was taking Prozac. 'Course, having grown up black in Natchez, where one half the population owned the other half and nobody has ever forgotten it, would have had nothing to do with it...
