What is up with some of the pathetic people that respond with vulgar and rude comments and only do it as "anonymous"? I mean if you have something to say, don't hide behind anonymous, leave an email address and have a discussion about it. I can take criticism and no one needs to like or approve of how I live my life, but at least have the balls to have a discussion about it.

I just started posting today but have read the storys for a long time. It is terrible when they do that!

I do not even check to see if I have comments. I write for my pleasure and the pleasure of others. Critics are everywhere! Fuck them if they do not like my stuff. Many others have enjoyed tham and said so.

But not leaving a name is just wimpy and cowardly!

Welcome! :rose:

As for the rude people, we call them trolls. I'm sure you can figure out why.

I tend to ignore them!

Hi all,
I agree about the negative commenters.
I try hard to just ignore them. Those who truly enjoy your stories will take the time to email you, or simply to enjoy them and leave it at that.

I feel pity for those who feel the need to bag certain stories, such as the Lovin Wives category, but hey, life goes on!

They certainly won't stop us writing, or indeed enjoying our somewhat unusual lifestyle and sex life.

To each thier own I say!

Love, DEE (aka - Marriedpervs)

It appears you've been hit by the 'trolls' obviously. And I am so very sorry this has happened to you. I understand perfectly how you feel. We've all suffered votewise and otherwise by their comments, lifestyle bashing and so on.

I had a friend tell me once to write for myself. It was the most helpful advise I have recieved. So, I'll just pass it along and hope it helps you too. Just write for yourself and don't let the 'trolls' get to you. Ignore them. Most of them are only bible wavers and such that don't even need to be here. But, they insist upon striking every chance they get at whomever.

Just makes me wonder what they were doing reading gaymale material... *snickers*

I read your story today - you have comments turned off.

I thought it was a 'fair' story, reading more like a penthouse letter than a short story. The prose was not clear and inspired, it was a basic telling of events which did not inspire any feeling in me one way or the other.

Try showing me the story, make me see the events, don't just tell me about them.

You have to keep in mind that trolls exist for one purpose and one purpose only -- to mock those of whom they are jealous.

These are people with no skill, no drive, no life. they 'get off' on beating down others who become popular. they never left behind the high school mentality of hating anyone that other people liked.

Ultimately, they are of no consequence to you or your writing. they really are impotent in the ultimate sense of the word. Their votes will be swept away by Literotica. Their grossly misspelled comments can be erased.

Forget the trolls, or laugh at them, like I do. That's the boot that stomps the roaches.

Ok, my first post after all these years...oh well :D

I very rarely comment on the stories i read. I think I commented once or twice only and those were stories that really got my pulse going, if you know what I mean :)

I want comments, however, on my own stories (inconsistent, I know) in order to improve my writing and - hopefully caress my ego. Some comments I take to heart, some I don't care about at all. But what's the point in being rude? I know the trolls are out there but anyway...hmm...well, I don't know why I'm writing this, but...hehe...my point is: don't minde the trolls, they're usually pathetic losers with no life and no ability of they're own.
Those who can, do, those who can't become critics ;)

We all get them. There is a juvenile, sub-culture of retards who cruise Lit with the sole purpose of making nasty "Anonymous" comments on stories. These "Trolls" don't seem to write or post stories on Lit, most likely cannot write, and seem to read on a third grade level (most likely rode the "short bus" to school).

If they had anything constructive to say, they would identify themselves. Just feel glad you didn't get death threats. I have.

BTW, Kbate was right on in her critique of your story. Keep at it, we all started where you are. You'll get LOTS better.

I've gotten a few nasty comments on this first story that I've submitted, except for each of them felt strongly and validated enough in their opinion to back it up with a name. So that's kind of nice. *grin*

Due to the nature of this story, I've had some negative feedback. It's a subject that makes some people uncomfortable and apparently makes some people incredibly angry. Which is understandable.

I'm more irritated by the concept that people don't fantasize about the stuff I write about. It's a fantasy. Not real. I've learned in my studies and research (studying to be a sex therapist) that there are so many different kinds of fantasies and different meanings behind the ones that are a bit more alternative.

I don't mind the negative comments (though I'd prefer more feedback criticizing the style of my writing as opposed to the story itself) but sometimes I do wish I could show some of these people the research that shows that people (and more importantly women) do fantasize about the stuff I write and that the reasons they do so are pretty normal in the greater scheme of things.

wait until you get a death threat

I wrote a whole rant on just such a topic...if you want to blast me for my horrible grammar feel free but if the writer has upset you so much you are angry then that write wrote one hell of a story in my opinion...

Heck I have had more than my share of death threats as well!!!

I actually get a kick out of it that my opinions (true or not, I do love stirring the proverbial pot) can make someone so upset they actually want to fight me or wish harm on me...

I just have one thing to say about such people "GET A LIFE..." cause i got one and I am the one who pushed your buttons...GOTCH YA!!! LMFAO!!!

Good luck with future stories!!!

Don't Worry Be Happy

If there is no validity in them, ignore. Why should I let someone I don’t even know intimidate me? Like they know where I am. How can they hurt me? Their problem if they don’t like my stories.

I really can’t talk much though. I’ve only one story posted and the comments have been okay so far. (Even though I don’t like my own story, and would like to rewrite the whole thing over.)

I think that the topic matter… matters a lot too. If for some reason you step on someone’s egotistical toes, than they get mean. (I’ll know for sure when my next story is posted.)

Some of the worst comments are a back handed compliment, particularly the ones that are attacking the characters and their behaviour. To have riled a reader that much about the acts of a fictional character, you must have written it well!

The ones that piss me off are the idiots that don't recognise spelling variations from different countries as valid, but can't even spell in American.

Like many before me have commented, I really enjoy getting the feedback whether good or bad. The only feedback that really irritates me is the ones I get from time to time where they comment about the fact that "IF she did that to me, I would f... her up". The story is about a femdom and a male slave...what did you expect?

I can take criticism, but present it in the right light, and, if you don't like the premiss of the story, don't read it. I guess that goes back to them being trolls though.

LOL I would consider, when reading such comments, that my story was successful. My reader became emotionally involved with my characters. If his emotional reaction was exactly those emotions I was playing for... then even better. Oh! I love a mind-fuck. Even the little ones... I'm so cruel.

Criticism is something we all face at some point in our writing careers. It is nice when people actually sign their name and don't take the cowardly way out, but that is life. I've had a few critical e-mails, and with one person I actually was able to open a dialogue through e-mail and found out why they disliked my story so much. I thought their reasoning was assanine, but they're entitled to their opinion.

I try and focus on those people who leave good feedback, and those that e-mail me always get a response and thank you. That would be my suggestion, like the rest of the people on this thread.

The big question is, did you enjoy the story that you wrote? If you did, good for you, now get ready to write the next one and blow the last out of the water. Best of luck on your writing, welcome to the club.

Do not be too upset about it, liken anonymity to cowardice.

I write stories in a category that is considered to be taboo in most societies. Why do I write them?

Certainly not because it is my life-style. Certainly not because I approve of that particular life style.

On first logging on to Literotica, I browsed the categories and when I decided to write and submit, I opted for this particular category as it was obviously the one that attracted most readers.

Yes I chose the category that if my stories proved successful, would reach the widest audience and if met with approval would stroke my ego, (best sellers list scenario).

What I found amusing were the anonymous critics who slated my stories as being sick/perverted, etc yet had read them.

I consider stories dealing with paedophilia, necrophilia or the modern words snuff stories to be sick, I do not read such stories for that very reason. Okay I visit other story sites too as this story site does not approve of such topics.

I have comments turned on and accept feedback. I'd much rather have this than "this is the worse piece of shit story ever." I actually got that email from Anonymous - damn!

I am new and writing lots for Lit Survivor. My story ratings are all over the place, honestly - from 2.8 to 4.8 - the more I post, the more variety I guess, and the more attention I call to the stories. They can't all be spectacular right? :)

Funny that comment was directed at one of my 4.5 rated stories!

What to do? I felt bad but angry. I welcome constructive feedback - plus or minus!

anonymity + normal person = total jerkwad

hee hee - since I hide behind my Literotica "handle" am I considered anonymous?

i wonder. I won't use my real name for professional reasons, but I am accessible via this site. I am not a jerkwad!

I've actually seen some really helpful criticism, and I like getting it. I'm new to writing erotica, so I appreciate any and all useful feedback.

To me, the trolls are just the price you pay for all the free good stuff. You're putting sex stories out there for anyone to read, and of course there'll be some jackasses looking for someone to tear down. Just don't take it to heart, and enjoy writing!

Frustrating...

I don't post any comments unless it is good feedback. This is a free site and people are taking time out to share their work, they are doing us a favor! And whether you like it or not , if you can read the whole story through and say you don't like it, it doesn't matter, you've been entertained so just be nice about WHATEVER YOU CHOOSE TO SAY. Essentially this is porn...if you happen to get a really well written piece of porn well then that's fantastic, but come on dude...relax. How highbrow do you think it's going to get?

I hate the "critics" who can't even put a sentence together themselves or whom focus on some minute part of the story instead of the actual story line and characterization--not seeing the forest for the trees.

I also don't like all this pretensious criticism...helpful criticism yes, but the cold and haughty criticism of someone who wishes they were the editor of a literary magazine just floors me when clearly, its totally absurd and inappropriate for the venue we're in. Is it ever that serious?

I think every writer here should just keep on doing what they are doing, without them there'd be no Lit in the first place, and no place for "trolls" to troll. :)

I probably should keep my mouth shut but as usual I won't... :D

Highbrow has nothing to do with it and yes it does get very serious for some... The writers that is. It may only be porn to you but a well written story doesn't just happen, it takes hard work and a lot of learning. Its the building of a craft from the ground up. A lot of the writers around here want to get published and to do so you have to have something written.

Compared to a regular story site, this place has them all beat hands down on the numbers of reads and comments. Yes some of the anyoldmouse and Troll comments are trashings but that comes with the territory. Even the score on a story means nothing until you get a hundred votes or so and then it's no real yardstick. What the majority of comments and e-mails say is a better measure once you weed out the Trolls.

As for the "pretensious criticism" well it's not really... there are a few very good editors and writers that take the time to read the stories of the authors who post in this forum and try to give them what they want. Honest feedback. They don't have time to sugar coat it or to take the time to be anything other than blunt. Don't take that as cold and haughty because it's not.

And just for your information the people who I'm talking about do more than any two editors of a literary magazine ever thought about doing. Because of these folks and a lot more who volenteer edit, we have a bunch of authors on this site who are now published either in print or in e-books.

Drop into the AH and pick a thread. scroll down and check the signature lines.... you will find many with books listed....

Trolls and anyoldmouse aren't nearly as menacing as they think they are... to most of us they are a source of humor and just plain, how stupid can you get...

I'll get off my soap box now....
