Yes I believe in the right to carry. I also believe in the idea of increased training before and during the time of carrying. It is not enough to be able to hit the target half the time. A person who is allowed to carry must be able to determine when it is proper to employ or use their weapon. A person must also be able to use their weapon with reasonable accuracy even during times of stress. (Scary thought isn't that? Even the Police don't have enough training in this for my taste.)
And how do you suggest this be made a reality?

I agree, if people knew how to handle weapons responsibly, I'd have no problem with them arming themself to the teeth. But therein lies the question: Should we wait until people do know this before arming them, or arm them now, and hope they get it eventually?

Scary thought? Yep. Could be that it's very different depending on where you live, but in a violent and stressed situation, I'd be more afraid of a gun in the hands of your average surburbian ma and pa than almost anyone else.

(Actually the best weapon is the one between your ears.)
