"Romance" or "porn"? What's wrong with my romance threads? (links)

I seems that the most popular thread I started on the sexual roleplaying board was Lisa's College Dares . It was a "story" that I would consider almost pure "porn" -- no real compassion between the characters.

Then I started trying "romance". Or at least what I thought was romantic. My first attempt The Crush did okay, but perhaps the "romance" was a bit weak. My Coast-to-Coast was admittedly a bit goofy, but threads like The Dawn of the Fall didn't go nearly as far as I thought it might, and my The Guardian of the Pacific Coast seemed to die almost immediately.

What am I doing wrong? Perhaps I just don't understand romance? What's the biggest things that these stories are lacking?

Too long and involved?

Maybe my starting threads are just too long and involved? Perhaps they should be shorter and a little vaguer so that I'm not steering the story too much?

Yes many don't like to do a formatted story, unless they formatted it and are going to submit it to the stories section of literotica. Usually the best way to get people is to lay out a location and the person's involved, or just a location and leave it open to people so then everyone who likes the location can be creative.

If you lay out something like a bar after closing, two people there this guy named Steve who is into such and such things and Amy who is into this and this and loves to be dominated nobody will help you with it because it is formatted, no creativity involved. ;)

hi beach,

wouldn't this thread go best in the first thread, the sticky, of the sexual role play forum?

i'm not sure why you put it here, and i'm strongly considering moving it, but shall wait to hear from you for a short while.

Pure,

Do you mean the thread "Sticky: Threads that need players" in the Sexual Role Play Forum? I've advertised these threads there, but the feedback I received from Softouch911, and emap have been very helpful. Perhaps what I should do is to develop some of my overly long beginning threads into short stories of my own. And if I want to roleplay I should keep the posts simpler, not so detailed, and shorter.

Perhaps I should ask the question "Are my starting threads good enough to work into stories?" Weaknesses? Strengths?
