A lot of people think we read them for the sex parts, but honestly? Most of the women I know skim over those parts. Let's face it, there's only so many ways you can say "and then they fucked."
I'm not sure if some of the books I choose fall in that category. Is Diana Gabaldon's "Outlander" series considered part of the romance genre? That's about as close as I get to what I think of as "romance" books. When I was a kid, my mom accidently bought me some used Harold Robbins books at a flea market. Does he count?eversobeautiful said:Do you read romance books?

I've never understood why the bad guys (and girls) have the best sex. I've been reading romances for almost twenty years now and the books that are promo'd as "hot" today are lukewarm compared to some of the older books. I have some Brenda Joyce and Linda Lael Miller's that are about to fall apart. They must be bored with sex because their newer ones are completely blah.
One scene that really stuck with me was a forced "Spanish Inquisition" thing. The story was okay, the sex scenes were great and i can't remember anything else about the book.
Vampire, time travel and paranormal romances? Those sound interesting. Which authors write in those sub-genres?Arc da Rat said:I mostly read Historicals set in England Lots of ones from the Regency era but I have been know to also pick up Sci-fi, vampire, time travel, & paranormal romances too.
