I'm sitting here watching The Penn Relays on tv and I can't help but have a bit of nostalgia. Is that possible at 22? Back to the topic. While watching, they did a piece on Michael Johnson and his retirement and it took me back to when I was in high school running track. I was a sprinter and watched MJ (He was my MJ, not Jordon) as much as possible. My Junior year, I went to the Penn Relays as the alternate for my school's 4*100 and 4*400 meter relays. That Saturday, the pros, Jackie Joyner-Kersie, Gail Devers, Bob Kersee, and Michael Johnson all gave a clinic and talked to the athletes who could make it. I got to go as I didn't have to run because everyone was healthy, and got to talk to MJ for a few moments before he signed an autograph. It was the biggest thrill of my life to see that my role model was what he seemed to be, and I came away from that with an even bigger apprecaition for him.
My questions are, have you ever had the chance to meet one of your childhood idols or role models? If so, what did you think of him/her?
