When it has decision making programming based on sensor feedback. A robot is essentially a tool that performs an automated task without the need for human guidance (past creation/programming). What makes a robot different from a simple machine is that a robot can be more easily re-purposed, assigned another task.snooper said:There are robots and robots. C3PO looked vaguely humanoid, R2D2 does not. Each had different abilities.
Consider a vibrator: it has a limited ability to imitate one element of human behaviour.
Consider a posh up-market pleasure device (PUPD) which is warm, throbs and can be filled with a suitable liquid to ejaculate when appropriate. This is nearer to being a robot.
Mount the PUPD on a machine like the one that paints "Picasso" on the car advertisement and programme it to mave to appropriate places on a body which lies down on the bed in front of it ...
You see where this is going. When does a simple device become a robot?

And, pray tell, what's wrong with a giant dildo?Athena_e19 said:I have thought about writing for a robot or as a robot or about a robot before, but I feel like when you try and do it in the form of erotica it loses something. It ultimately seems to be a story about a giant dildo.

A robot can't feel human emotion or pleasure, can't understand the complexities of linguistics, and doesn't have the seem base desire we do. Some writers choose to program these things in, but it ends up being a story about a metal human, more than it does about being a robot.
If I were to write a story on a robot for sex, I would want it to be cold and callous and mechanical. It fucks because it is programmed too. If I was writing it as a robot, I think it would be interesting to see a human brain trapped in the body of the metallic shell.

Online video chat with the difference that a user can control an array of mechanical devices that do things to the woman. I've got to say that as a story goes that premise is pretty darn gimmicky, though. There's no real conflict or plot to make it anything other than a quick stroke. Still, it's a start and it's believable because it's entirely possible with today's technology.
