Sorry to bring some depressing news on a Monday, especially since I haven't been posting here lately.
Dragonmount, Robert Jordan's blog, has announced that he passed away yesterday at 2:45 PM. He has been responsible in large part for renewed interest in the fantasy genre. Hopefully that will be a large part of his legacy.

My condolences to his family and also to his thousands of fans who have faithfully read every book in his mega series "Wheel of Time". He was working on the twelfth book in the series that he claimed would be the final book that closed out the series. WOT did have its share of controversy by some readers who claimed he was dragging it out by adding too many superfluous subplots bloating what was otherwise a grand fine piece of fantasy work, yet most of them still stayed with him to see how this mega saga would end.
It's a shame in so many ways, not in the least a fine author has passed away leaving behind many grieving friends and family, but also an ultra large fan base that has invested nearly two decades in following his work that will not have closure, at least written as intended by the original author.
