Oops. Clicked a little too soon.

"Mike Pence won the debate. The consensus was clear after the dust settled. Mike Pence's top moments from the debate were when he discussed the economy and highlighted Hillary's scandals. Mike Pence made the most of his opportunity to debate Time Kane. The biggest winner was of course, Donald Trump."

The post is down but I suppose we now know what they expect his to say. Let's see if he can deliver on it.

Are they declaring a WWF fighter the winner of the debate, before it has started ?
It is not 9:00, yet, in New England.

Hillary has had her named mis- spelled.
Sen. Tim Kaine (D- VA) is the one who will be at the debate.

Yes, that's the punchline. The RNC released the assessment that Pence won the debate an hour before the debate started.

so far it's the only interesting thing about the debate.

The debate taking place in the real world is about as interesting as I thought it would be. It's very much Generic R vs. Generic D, and won't change a blessed thing about the campaign, as I predicted.

Well we now know that Pence can lie with conviction and is the master of false piety.

Too funny.

Kaine is well versed in every deplorable thing Trump has ever said.

The moderator was doing a decent job. :p

My candidate won. According to the spin doctors.

When did spin become an acceptable term for "lying my ass off doctor"?

Both parties do it but we seem to accept it. Well when my candidate does that OK. That other person is a lying asshole.

Maybe if we all hold them the same we would get something different. I am guilty of this too.

I wouldn't hold Trump for nothing.

Lie with conviction; Beliefs are are facts; All animals are equal, but some animals are more equal than others.

I think Kaine is making more "points", but since he insists on talking over Pence, rather than let Pence flounder and stammer, I am left with the impression that Kaine is even more annoying, disrespectful, and undisciplined than Trump. I really do not want to hear him talk again.

I'd like to see the numbers on who did more interrupting.

Frank Luntz has a group of undecided voters with him in Ohio. They watched the debate and they said almost to a man/woman Pence won :D

I'd like to change the rules for political debate.

I would get 2 lightning -quick assistants- Jeopardy contestants. Each one would have a stopwatch and a cut off switch connected to a debater's camera and microphone. Whenever a debater tries to interrupt the moderator, or the other debater they would cut them off and record the time, which will be subtracted from time reserved for concluding remarks. Likewise, when they reach the end of their time limit for each response, they will be silenced.

They could prepare or not, at their peril.

Throwing Trump under the bus.

Kane was running for VP in 2016 and Pence was running for president in 2020. He apparently doesn't realize he's running with Trump. :D

That is incredibly shocking! Maybe the cat that handles messaging for Republicans, Luntz, wrote the post for the RNC's website.

It does get obnoxious, but I think there is something to be taken away from how a person handles themselves when someone is trying to talk over them.

I'd like to see a lot less interrupting. It's a fairly new thing in presidential debates, and I don't think it's adding anything to the proceedings. Kaine could have dialed it back a bit (taking a cue from Clinton, who was more than happy to let her idiot opponent yammer on), though obviously on substance he had the much stronger case. The theater critics in the "liberal media," who could care less about substance, are giving him a hard time.

Both guys got their points across to their voters, but a couple of things stuck out for me:

1. Pence's increasingly comical denials that Trump has insulted his way through the entire campaign. Um, this isn't a state representative's race in North Dakota -- we've all kind of been paying attention.

2. As was pointed out, Pence almost seemed to be making the arguments he would like to have made if he had been at the top of the ticket, rather than reinforcing what the nominee has been saying. For starters, Pence and Trump appear to have completely different stances towards Russia and Russia's behavior in Syria. It's very weird.

Well said.

If they treated the whole debate like they did the last 10 minutes it would have been a good debate.

Tim talking about the death penalty and Mike about abortion, whether you agree or disagree with their positions, was clear and to the point.

Pence made the conservative points to a large extent. That, though, doesn't have much to do with Trump. It's not Pence who is running for president, and does anyone live in the delusion that Pence will be a trusted adviser to Trump when/if Trump gets into the White House?

neither of them left me with anything exciting in my mouth.
