After the tweet-and-hack scandal surrounding the 168-year-old News of the World, I see Mr Murdoch has closed that publication on July 7.
The few readers of my story "Valerie - A Deep and Dark December", published 1/2/11, might remember that Rupert Murdoch, the boss of News Corporation, the owner of News of the World, was trying to buy control of Delgrasi Publications, Inc., Valerie's employer and the premier publisher of BDSM periodicals.
I was writing Chapter 3 of the continuation of the Valerie saga, in which I describe the reason for Mr Murdoch's maneuvering, and how Valerie unpacks Murdoch's scheme and saves the day, when I saw that News Corporation's big merger deal was in trouble and News of the World laid off 200 employees who had nothing to do with the scandal, while retaining the boss who made it happen.
Ya can't make this stuff up--except sometimes. Again my thanks to Grandmaster dweaver999 for creating this wonderful world, and making it so closely match the world we live in.
