Sir Clement Freud, grandson of Sigmund Freud, died yesterday: Guardian Obituary

His delivery of jokes, often suitable for Literotica, was beautifully timed in his lugbrious voice.

I met him on a couple of occasions at formal events. It was very difficult to remain solemn when he started commenting on the proceedings.

I liked this contribution to a radio programme Second speaker

He provided enjoyment to many people over decades but his dog-food commercials dogged him for years...

A great Wit. Sad to see him go.
I had the pleasure of meeting him once. He seemed to have an endless list of stories.

I mourn his loss as well. He was an amazingly witty, articulate pleasant man. I wish I'd met him.

I recall how, on my first trip to England 25 years ago, my then-wife and I saw that he was speaking to the local Chocolate Appreciation Society (something delightfully English about that) on, I believe, the glory of chocolate. We both wanted to see him, but it would've hosed up our travel plans and we'd have had to cool our heels in the neighborhood somehow for a few days. Alas!
