The Great Santini. A very underrated movie and he was perfect in it.Great actor. Played so many different roles, all of them well.
One of those actors whose performances defined the eras in which he acted.
"It's not personal, Sonny, it's strictly business."
"I love the smell of napalm in the morning."
"Stand by for a fighter pilot."

Duvall, DeNiro, Pacino, Hoffman…the greats I grew up watching.
I guess you can tell, I like Lonesome Dove.
It's one of my favorite books, and the TV show was wonderfully cast.
My favorite Duvall film is The Apostle, written and directed by him.
Came here to say this.I thought he was the perfect Gus in the TV version of one of my favorite books, Lonesome Dove. He could play a cowboy and he could play a New Yorker. A true actor who could inhabit and convince you in completely different kinds of roles.
The world is a little less bright now that he's gone. This year, Fing sucks green, donkey dicks.
