I'm neither British nor obsessed with the whole royalty thing, but Queen Elizabeth II has been the face of Britain longer than I've been alive. As to how good of a Monarch she's been I'm not qualified to say. But as an interesting person who I've watched age and endure a lot of personal grief I've always thought she handled it well. So my condolences to all of the Brits here and others who are surprised by her recent death. She had a very long and fruitful life.

You'll have a lot of anti-monarchists claim that Queen Elizabeth II didn't do much for the UK or the Commonwealth but to me and millions of others, she was the UK. She will be missed. May she Rest In Peace.

To my UK friends. I'm sorry for your loss.

Thanks, Jade.

As tnman said in the first post, she was Queen for all our lives so it's going to take a few days to process. One of my first thoughts is sadness that her younger children didn't make it in time.

I am not British, but tonight, it just so happens that I am in the UK. I am saddened for the loss of such a remarkable and history making woman. Many years ago I was in London for her Silver Jubilee and was on the street for the royal procession.
I will never forget that, nor will I forget where I was this day when I learned of the Queen's death.

May she rest in peace and may the millions who are mourning her find peace.
