9/11 will always be pivotal but so will 7/7. I could so easily have been on that train but fate changed that. Irony was we had a dreadful London Mayor at the time, the infamous Ken Livingstone, who was effectively singing the praises of Islam shortly before this occurrence. He had to eat some rather humble pie and he was history not long after.

We all remember where we were during 9/11, but for Londoners 7/7 will always be remembered on a par.

7/7 was a defining moment for the UK, but our response to it has been poor.

What we should have done, and what we could have done were important. What we have actually done is pathetic. The Rotherham child abuse cases have changed things far more than 7/7.

We still don't challenge the false jihadists often enough.

We should stop referring to 'Islamic State' and use the term 'Dae'sh' instead, or 'criminal scum' because that is what they are.

If we don't change young Muslims' attitude to Dae'sh, then we will continue to produce home-grown terrorists like those who committed 7/7.

A significant minority but far too many British Muslims, especially young British Muslims, have mindsets that are sympathetic to violent jihad against their fellow citizens. Until we really start fighting the propaganda war that Dae'sh are so effective with, we won't stop them recruiting terrorists for their cause.
