Rest in peace Lisa Crawford Moore.
The 36-year-old beloved attorney, mother and wife passed away today following a bout with breast cancer. She is survived by her husband, Les, and daughter, Summer.
Well Lisa passed on today in a comic strip Funky Winkerbean that is read in over 400 papers here in the United States. She had been through a lot in her fictional life (http://funkywinkerbean.com/archive.html) including a teen pregnancy and an earlier bought with cancer, but she still became a wife, a mother, and a lawyer. There has been a lot of controversy late about the strip, because such a serious topic has appeared in the "funny pages," but I hope it encourages people to get tested and take the route of prevention.
Sure it is a comic book character and unlike Superman and Captain America (well I hope anyway) she won't be coming back and from my experience in the healthcare field I can say Lisa's story depicts a woman's struggle with breast cancer very well. He leaves little out of this hard battle and the fact fact that there is no happy ending it more truthful then many of us would like to think about.
So I am writing this to say goodbye to a character that tugged at my heart strings and even made me cry....not so much for her but for all the lovely people I have seen pass on over the years.
So what you wan't but I hope this starts some talking...and inspires...
Miss you Lisa...
