Dee Dee Ramone, a founding member of the pioneer punk band The Ramones, was found dead of a possible drug overdose in his Hollywood home last week. He was 50 years old.
In his autobiography, Lobotomy: Surviving The Ramones, Dee Dee had written of his struggle with drug and alcohol abuse.
He died only 11 weeks after the band was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.
It is no exaggeration to say that when Douglas Colvin changed his name to Dee Dee and formed The Ramones, he changed rock music as we know it forever.
The band's lead singer, Joey Ramone, died last April of lymphoma, a form of cancer. He was 49.
The other two founding members are Johnny and Tommy Ramone.
