When I saw Richard Hatch died, I thought it was the gay guy from Survivor.

I've never heard of this guy.

RIP nonetheless.

What?! Am I the only dork that watched the original Battlestar? Well, years later because I'm not that old.

RIP dude. Loved the original series as a kid but never watched the reboot.

You should have. Very good overall. A bit winding and forced towards the end but the last two episodes were great.

As to Mr. Hatch, he played his part very well. Very believable as the man who claimed he had the moral high ground, that he was the one who was being oppressed and that Adama had staged a military coup.

Even having watched the original series, you didn't associate him with Apollo (played by Jamie Bamber). He was Tom Zarek.

You are not the only dork who watched and loved that show. Hell I still want his 70s hair.

Very sad news.

He did have nice hair. I watched the show with my Dad.
I never watched the reboot, though.

Clunky and corny, but never forgotten.
Boxey and the robot doggie will be waving good bye.
The Lite Brite toasters will electronically cackle.

I liked the episode were he crash landed on a planet with a wild west theme shootout with a damaged cylon.

fuck you. the ending of the re-imagined series is the fucking worst. the last season nearly ruins the whole thing.

and i had no special love for richard hatch, but i can't fucking believe he was seventy. i was just watching the guild on netflix and dude looked like he was late fifties. the wonders of hair dye, i guess. rip, dude. it'll always be fun to spot you in bad movies and tv shows from the 70's and 80's.

I used to get him mixed up with Randolph Mantooth.

The ending made perfect sense. Not necessarily implemented correctly, but when put together with everything that happened previously, it made perfect sense. Having Galactica break her back was a great scene.

Their whole goal was to find Earth. They did.

All of this has happened before and will happen again.

Thank you, Mr. Hatch, for imbedding this special stylistic section of my childhood's love of sci-fi into my conscious forever. Always Apollo. :rose:

P.S.: Starbuck was nothing without you. Bet that. We knew. And I wanted that jacket as a kid, too. If I could, I'd still rock that shit. ;)

it sucked, dude. you know it's true. you can throw any arc phrase you want at me, but it'll still suck.

If you want to go treasure-hunting in the past, your best bet is tombs. You can easily compile a list of known ancient royal tombs and very rich folks' tombs, all of which of course have by now been plundered of their grave goods -- possibly by you.

My husband and I watched that original series when it was on Netflix. He remembered it from when he was a kid. I thought it was great. I wonder why it only ran one season. I though Capt Apollo was hot!
