Some of you old timers may remember a former frequent poster named 'atmas.' He was Peregrinator's best friend, and he followed Perg here very quickly.

I'm very sad to report that atmas passed away yesterday after a brief illness. He lived his life with a troubling, chronic illness but fell victim to cancer, just a few weeks after it was diagnosed.

He was a friend of mine for over 35 years. He was one of the groomsmen at my wedding and was godfather to my youngest child.

He will be greatly missed.

Hopefully he can join Perg in the afterlife and chase angels together!

Did he name any hills after himself?

I do remember the name, alas I don't believe we interacted much. Troubling to hear, HG. So very sorry for your loss and that yet another of the old guard has shuffled off their mortal coil. Peace to you and his kin.

I was talking with him via social media last week and during his hospitalization.

I was hoping that his positive outlook would help him through his cancer diagnosis. I was saddened and a bit shocked when I heard the news a few days ago.

So sorry for your loss of another good friend.

Didn't interact with him much either, but I caught him here and there back in the day when Perg was a daily fixture. Peace to his family.

I remember him. My best wishes for his family and friends. :rose:

he had a wonderful poetry thread right here on the GB

so sorry to hear of another good, decent man gone way too soon.

so sorry for the personal loss to you and your dear ones, Hungry Joe... i seem to always think of you three guys–Perg, Hungry Joe, and Atmas, as a collective. Now there's just you. Please don't be going anywhere too soon.:rose:

If you’re going to die of cancer, having it eat you up in 3 weeks is probably better than lingering.

Then again… Ogg… i’d be pleased to see him linger for years!

I am happy to report that I am in excellent health, probably the best of my life. Since I work from home and can walk to my gym, I'm not even likely to experience any accidents :)

Thank you very much for your kind words.

So sorry for your loss of another good friend.

It was fascinating to see his posts on Facebook relating his diagnosis and treatment plans. For someone who was in no way known for a positive outlook or optimism, he approached what was effectively a death sentence as if it were a fresh start. He was a truly complex person.

a person remembered by friends and fans lives eternally in memories.

I just saw this.
Very sorry to read this, I remember him and also Perg speaking of him.
My condolences to you and his family.
