WILL THE TEACHER’S UNIONS EXPLOIT CHILD DEATHS?
In the last month or so we have had two separate incidents involving children who are home schooled. The first was the situation in Northern Idaho where those children held off the Sheriff and his posse after their mother was taken into custody. The other, of course, was the Andrea Yates situation in Houston … the woman who drowned her five children.
If you spend much time on the Internet at all you will have noticed the beginnings of a campaign from government school proponents. These people have been working hard defeat proposals for voucher programs and contracts with private organizations to run government schools over the past few years. Now they think they have a good weapon to combat the growing threat of home schooling. That weapon? Andrea Yates and the bizarre lady from Idaho. (Sorry, can’t remember her name.) All weekend long I’ve been reading notes about these government school supporters … the word is out there. Home schoolers are nut-cases. Home schoolers kill their children. Children who are home schooled like to hold off armies of cops.
Look --- when it comes to preserving the great government education system for the benefit of teacher’s unions and others in the Big Ed establishment … no tactic is too shameful.
