Sounds rather pleasant for a winter day.

I'm a 47.4 latitude and it's -25F (-31.6C) now.

We got down to -27F (-32.7C) though this morning.

Hamilton? That's unfortunate. Never seen so many amputee homeless in my life. Might be better now Stelco's shut down.
9°C here and I'm pretty much your neighbour. :)

By now you and I know how the game is played:

-when it's warm, it's evidence of catastrophic anthropogenic global warming/climate change,
-when it's cold, it's weather.

11 degrees and raining.

I just got new skis and boots today:(

You can probably use your skis on the frozen roads after the freezing rain we're getting this evening.
And what was up with the third hand in those Magnotta videos?

Why is so much colder where Dmbff is?

Dumffuck is closer to the lake, most likely why.

The hand was someone lucky who didnt get charged with animal cruelty. He says it was the guy forcing him to torture the animals. Cant say for sure.

Ya, i edited that. My observational skills are poor at best. What threw me was >. Bolded might have been clearer.

Weird they never looked into that and accredited it to mental illness when it's obvious someone else was involved. Those internet nerds have such a grandiose opinion of themselves. Like they solved the murder.
Internet brings out all kinds of crazy in people. K, back to weather.

Farther south is Niagara Falls, or as one horticulture expert put it, "The Banana Belt." :D

Respect to the folks in Minnesota. :D :)

Parts of Hamilton is looking like what Toronto did 30 years ago.

Yeah, lots of broken people here. Lots of addicts and panhandlers and it looks like there's no man here between 18 to 40 who doesn't have a tattoo. Still, it seems to have more life per unit area than Toronto.

Old industry is taking a beating probably due to Trump and because it's old, but real estate prices are rising as people are migrating here. This city is growing.

I just heard Neil Peart was born here. (R.I.P. :rose:)

but our side seems to be winning.

Yes, it was colder a few days ago, and it will get cold again. We still get winters, but they don't seem as severe as years ago.

On day, I'll use mine.

Cycling in winter can be fun: the rough ice at times is as good as concrete.

It's so windy here the rain is going sideways. :)
Wind power.

I feel like some Ultravox. :D

Dumffuck
...
Dumbfuck Fart Knocker bigot forgot the "b."

As for the lake, Pearson's several km inland and the wind generally blows east, but yeah.

Btw, Fart Knocker, how's your pal Don Andrews doing?

This music's rather above you bigot:

I feel your pain.

I do. I really do.

[nice pic]
Is that California?

(I gotta go out for a walk: too beautiful to miss.)

At 42° and it's (3° F) with 25mph sustained winds. If anyone cares about wind chill factors, that's - 14° F? Or there abouts.

Rent and housing prices are skyrocketing. Most are beyond what an average Canadian can afford. The homeless numbers are increasing. Way too fucking cold to be homeless. If you see some one in need on really cold nights you can call the police and they'll move them to a motel if they want to go.
Number of working people using food banks have tripled. Downtown shelters are closed cuz they occupy valuable real estate. Check out OCAP sometime. They do amazing work.

Probably not. It's a stock pic from the internet and most likely Caribbean.

This is California:

The weather here is typical for January. Slightly cold at 60* so it's not bikini weather, but the skies are clear and there were several sails visible on the ocean yesterday. A bit rough getting out of the harbor because of big swells, but otherwise, pretty decent for sailing.

The boats were probably departing for a fun weekend over at the Channel Islands. Diving, snorkeling, kayaking, swimming, BBQ-ing, stuff like that. This is either Anacapa Island or Santa Cruz Island.

Dolphins are common here.

Pacific Grey Whales migrate past in the spring on their way north.

Enjoy your snow, ice, and freezing limbs. All the warm unchanging weather around here is boring.

LOL yea, I'm new here but yea other than Maine, N. Dakota and Mawntana it's about as cold as it gets in the lower 48.

I'm enjoying it though. Never lived in a place that ever got too cold until now.

I hear the Chinese buying up ya'lls housing is causing some issues that are becoming very pressing and the "Diversity always good in all ways! Immigration controls of any kind = Nazi!" crowd are having a hard time explaining what's so good about a bunch of homeless Canadians so rich Chinese folks can have an 8th property.

That's true on the west coast. Not so much the rest of Canada. I think they imposed some sort of cap on number of foreign nationals buying up property or something. I'd have to look it up.

Okay...there's BC's Bill 28, which is essentially a foreign buyer's tax. 20% plus extra taxes on vacant buildings. Statistically it seems that it worked.

Foreign-buyers tax
A new 20% tax was added to the Property Transfer Tax when a purchaser, who is not a Canadian citizen or permanent resident, purchases residential real estate property in Metro Vancouver.

BC is a weird mix of big C Conservatives and the Green party. Never could quite figure them out. Pretty much a Conservative sweep out there in the last election. 🤷

As was in the UK and almost guaranteed at this point to happen in the US this fall for the same reasons.

(note: I worked on this post before I saw the last few.)

$48,500 (about $36 000 US, I think)
Estimated Mortgage Payment: $220.01/mo
3 bed|1 bath|1121 sqft|house
Date Listed: Tue, Oct 29, 2019
Property Tax: $1,400 (2019)

I somewhat blame NIMBY and old habits: it's definitely not a problem of a lack of space.

Yeah, I recognize that. It's where the palm tress grow and the rents are low. :D (love that song)

They are (buying a lot of property).

I like them.

It shouldn't be a problem: we have a lot of land.

There's history—decades ago, anti-Asian sentiments in Canada might have been worse than the US.

One big problem are relations with China over the Meng Wanzhou thing.

On December 1, 2018, Meng was arrested at Vancouver International Airport by the Royal Canadian Mounted Police at the request of the United States for allegedly defrauding multiple financial institutions in breach of US imposed bans on dealing with Iran.[7] On January 28, 2019, the U.S. Department of Justice announced financial fraud charges against Meng.[8]

The commies are pissed at us. I say fuck 'em.

I'm not sure if enough members of the Liberal caucus have them same attitude, though.

I used to be a big fan of Sook-Yin Lee (from Vancouver):

I think Vancouver did, which probably means they go elsewhere—say, maybe Alberta—which is coping with reduced oil prices.

Toronto suburb:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Markham,_Ontario
Markham's visible minorities which represent over 55.5% of the population include: Chinese (45%), South Asian (18%), Black (2.9%), Filipino (2.7%) and West Asian (2.4%), and 2.1% of the population reported multiple visible minority status. Non-visible minorities (white Canadians) make up 22% of the population.[40]

In BC, the Liberal Party is seen as conservative. :D

Doug Ford, Premier of Ontario, and compared with Trump, leads the "Progressive Conservatives." Canada's "New Democrats" are more leftist than the American ones.

I drove through Hamilton once on the 403. It was the shorter route but slower with traffic. Next time I'll avoid Hamilton.

Land ain't housing.

I don't think it's race specific, similar things are happening in the US and it's not always Asians....it's whatever influx of immigrants are coming in and running up the price of housing, food, transportation and devaluing labor market for the citizens already there.
