Reconnecting a friendship (closed)
Kali
27yrs old
Professional dancer for an NBA team
5'10
120lbs
Long dark brown hair
Bright green eyes

Kali had been dating him (a term used very loosly if u asked him) for a few months. Things had of course started out great. He was a great guy. But it was becoming more and more obvious that his true colors were just starting to be seen. They would fight over stupid things, where she had been who she was with... And he demanded things of her, to make dinner every night... Even on game nights when she was gone till very late... He would expect her to look like she was doing a photo shoot at all times... He was never ok with just wanting to spend time alone at home with her.

That brings the story up to date.... A friend was having a BBQ gathering and Kali and her bf had gone. The evening started out with him making a big scene because she had worn a jean skirt and a tank top which in his words equated to trailer trash. He had yelled to the point where kali wanted to crawl under a rock to hide. She had wandered off a bit to shake the humiliation and that's when she spotted him. They had been fairly good friends but hadn't really been talking much... Probably all Kali's fault for ignoring true friends to be with some jerk. She walked over to the cooler where he was standing and smiled,"hey you.. Long time no see!"

Fred
28 years old
Working in a music shop because playing in a local rock band doesn't make enough money
6'1''
180lbs
Mid-long and loosy black hair
blue eyes

Fred had been invited to Mike's party. Mike's a friend, Mike's the lead singer/guitarist of their band, Mike's a customer in the music shop. And Mike's popular. Fred's fair more discreet, staying in the back, in the dim light, more introverted. As the party went on, he kept at the back. He was not really into all those bets about who would drink faster and more, and all those games. So he was staying next to the cooler from where he could grab a beer or two, and hand them to friends passing by. He was humming to the songs that were loudly displayed. And looking at the people around. But he didn't see her coming...

"hey you.. Long time no see!"

her voice made him almost jump in surprise. He turned to face her... It was kali, a friend from childhood, with which he had not been along in the recent years. They had kept friends but not as close at they used to. He was always happy to see her around, not only because she was a delight for the eyes, but also because she had always been gentle and caring. In his youth, Fred had suffered from many bullies and mockeries. Now it was fine, but he kept in mind who had taken care of him during those years.

- hi Kali... You coming for a beer?

And he opened the cooler to take one out.

She smiled and nodded her head, "sure. That would be great." she took the offered beer and smile at him, "I haven't seen you forever. How've you been? Your in the ban with mike right?"

Her and Fred had always been friends. Growing up others gave her a hard time when they saw her talking to him but it never discouraged her, he was a good person.

Fred opened the can of beer and handed it to her. "cheers"

- Yeah, I play the bass, so it's not me that people see the most. I prefer it that way.

He took a sip form his own beer.

- It's been a long time Kali. The times when I needed a girl's protection...

He giggled.

- I saw you coming to the party with a very angry guy. Your boyfriend?

She laughed as she sipped her beer, "I've missed you thats for sure." her smiled diminished some when he brought up the angry boyfriend. She shrugged her shoulders, "Yeah..... not really how I wanted tonight to go.... but thats him." she drank from her beer and smiled at him..

- That's sad. YOu're not supposed to be with such a jerk. hey, you're the great kali, the perfect Kali, the gentle and caring Kali. You need a guy who knows how to be nice with you too.

He held her by the shoulder, standing next to her, and motionned to the crowd.

- Look, there's such a large lot of guys around. Every one finds you attractive, I promise you. And I?m sure that at least some of them deserve you.

She smiled, blushing a little. "Well thank you. I appriciate that, more than you know." she looked over at him as they sipped their beers, "So whats your deal?... you seeing anyone or anything?"

- Me?

he giggled, took a sip.

- Not in the last six months. And I didn't had much success before in fact. I think I never found the right one, and I cannot just date any girl for one night stands like Mike does.

he smiled at her, realizing he was still holding her close to him, and appreciating that.

She smiled and nodded her head in understanding. "Well I applaude you for not going the one night stand route... You may get instant gratification but after that initial night..." she mocked a shutter. "Good for you..... the right girl is there... you just have to find her." she smiled, enjoying reconnecting with him, they had always had a special relationship.

When she said it, it hit Fred's mind. Yes, the right girl was there. She had always been there. Someone cute, sexy, funny, intelligent, nice, caring... There were not two like her. And... Yes.... He was gazing at the crowd, holding her... And he turned his eyes towards her, his lips dry, a nknot in his throat not allowing him to talk. He tried openeing his mouth but nothing came out as he was looking at Kali in a very different way now.

She smiled at him, "what's that look for Fred? You look like you have no idea who I am." she bumped him playfully, "so............ What do you have going on after you leave here?"

- You... you mean "after the party"? Well... Nothing, no, I just... well...I'll go home.

He finished his beer in a long sip and quickly fumbled into the cooler for another one. He tried to hide that he was blushing.

She smiled, "well.. if you dont have plans we should hang out.. we can see a movie or go back to my place or something... i just feel like its been waay too longand i dont want to lose anymore time."
