not sure exactly where you are......but it's gotta be an easy drive in....you've prolly already been....the best festival in Acadiana....incredible music from Louisiana, Africa, Canada, France, etc.....most francophone countries....art....food.....kicks off thursday night.....website has complete schedule.....lots of times....performers at the N.O. Jazz Fest (also going on) will drop in.....you never know....one year Paul Simon did....when he was on his Graceland tour......Bonnie Rait.....well...a drunken Bonnie Rait......zipped by year before last....

anyway....just thought i'd mention it....it's major fun.....:)...great hoochie watching opps......

Well, I had been thinking of a trip south, but my sister is coming in from Dallas and dad wants to do a crawfish boil. Not to mention one of my best friends is singing at a small jazz festival Saturday night and she'll want me to be there. Got tickets for me, my sister, and her beaux.

Sounds like fun though, Ginny!

Don't be blabbing about it here, fer chrissakes! Next thing you know, all the damn tourons will be showing up and taking over.

(I usually go to this, but prior commitments won't allow it this year. :( Otherise, I'd meet you at the Abita tent, and we'd do a little two-steppin' to Wayne Toups ... or something.)

mmmmmm louisiana late april......so much going on.......enjoy those crawfish......i think we're boiling some this weekend as well...they are already getting so big.....not hard yet.....just big ol' baby lobsters.....i prefer the medium to large size......ya get more....umm....tail.....instead of all that weight in giant claws and shells...

have a great time at your friend's jazz fest.......i was just checking out times on a few bands on the fl website and thought about you...it's such a fun festival....a different kind of crowd that your regular festival down here....you know what i mean....it's more artsy...than just coonies cutting loose at a fais do do....;)
 
We buy selects. But most of the good ones stay south of Alex.

<smiling>.......it is one of the best kept secrets isn't it.....with the giant nightmare of a festival that the Jazz Fest has become....it's a jewel of a festival alright....and they've got some new stages this year.....going to be better than ever.....

a lil two-steppin to some chanky chank......a lil zydeco.....or....a lil something.....oh my....don't make me flash to our night in new orleans, you sexy thang....;)

<nodding>....yeah...they must like the joie de vivre down this way.....have you ever been to richard's in abbeville?......or hawk's in robert's cove?....we always think they can't get any better.....than boiled at home.....then we zip to one of those places....just hole in the wall places.......but mmmmmm mmmmmmm....

i'm crawfish obsessed.....if you haven't noticed....it's the whole thang....the dip....the potatoes....corn.....the ritual of it....just makes me happy.....ya know.....;)
 
I took Monday off. Will it be over by then? I could go down on Sunday. Dad still wants crawfish on Saturday.
 
it starts at noon on sunday, riff......with last bands starting 7-7:30.....then they have the international jam deal at Grant Street Dance Hall.......that's major fun.....check website for bands...

if you're off monday...you definitely oughta zip down....:)

seriously though....if you don't have anything planned....it's really the best festival....omg the range of music....zydeco...cajun......jazz/blues...steel drum.....the dancing.....the art....and great food......

even if y'all just come for the afternoon.....you know.....weather is supposed to be great.....get some sun....zoom home........or if you're really having fun (i.e drunk off your ass)...get a room...so you don't have to drive back....pm if you need any specific info.....check the site out.....they have a complete lineup at all five stages....it's spread out all over downtown....no admission fees.....

Dad's boiling crawfish Saturday and it's SUNDAY that my friend is performing at out little jazz festival. It will have to be next year for me. :(
