Ride the D!

When are they gonna bring back the redcars?
The red cars are long gone, but the right-of-ways remain. A lot of the new light rail lines being built in LA follow the old red car routes. For example my local line that runs from Santa Monica to downtown follows a 100-year-old red car route. The D subway extension is of course brand new.

We can't even get light rail in Tampa -- the funding referenda always fail.

Subways, of course, are out of the question -- the water table is too high. Buildings in Florida rarely have basements.

Melbourne is one of the few cities in the world where the trams never went away in the first place. Just one of many things I love about my adopted country.

Aren't there still a lot of tram systems in Europe?
