"In marble halls as white as milk,
Lined with a skin as soft as silk,
Within a cavern, crystal clear,
A golden apple doth appear,
No doors are there to this stronghold,
Yet thieves break in to steal the gold."

As for to how I knew...the trick to riddles is to simplify them. Think, for instance, what's white on the outside and yellow on the inside? The most obvious answer is an egg. Does an egg fit the rest of the description? Yep, it does. Now, don't give me any more! I'm a one-riddle-a-day kinda gal.
