Rick Perry

I think they're both wacko. Why are women, and especially women of color, affected more by the climate change? What about children and the elderly of both sexes? Aren't we all pretty much going to fry together.

If we were all just a little bit more psychotic we'd be running things, i dont get it either.

I just got back from Africa…I think I heard a lady say that there are people dying. Let me tell you where people are dying…in Africa because of the lack of energy that they have there. And it’s gonna take fossil fuels to push power out to those villages in Africa, where a young girl told me to my face ‘One of the reasons that electricity is so important to me is not only because I won’t have to try to read by the light of a fire, and have those fumes literally killing people, but also from the standpoint of sexual assault.’ When the lights are on, when you have light, it shines the righteousness, if you will, on those types of acts. So from the standpoint of how you really affect people’s lives, fossil fuels is going to play a role in that. I happen to think it’s going to play a positive role.

Holy Shit, when I read the headline I just automatically figured it was some sort of non-cerdible site. Then I noticed it was the Chicago Tribune, the paper we studied a lot in high school. FUCK

Fossil Fuels are cheap energy.
Alternative Fuels are expensive energy.

Humans are working on changing that, but how long do the people in these poorer countries have to wait to enter the modern world because we are telling them not to damage the planet?

One would think, and here's a wild and crazy thought, that we could teach these boys and men that it's not okay to rape or sexually assault girls and women.

Cheap energy would help get that message out and about in those countries.

Cheap energy has nothing to do with it.

Must we make every excuse in the world for men and boys that behave this way?

It is the culture, the permissiveness. The allowance.

It has nothing to do with energy and everything to do with their sense of entitlement.

Uh, I think you comprehended what I said wrong.
I did not make an excuse for this behavior. I provided a solution to the problem.
To change their society for the better you are going to need to educate their boys, and that will require energy.

Well we have cheap energy here and we still have pervasive sexual assault and rape.

I am thinking the solution has nothing to do with energy but more to do with teaching boys and men to not rape and/or sexually assault girls and women.

And how do you plan to teach the boys about sexual assault?
Perhaps you would print reading material? Or make a youtube video?
Do those processes require energy?

How do they teach them anything without energy? Apparently they can't learn anything without energy then? They don't learn how to hunt or get water or clean or do anything?

Are you trying to say that they are incapable of learning basic respect and sexual restraint without energy?

Seriously?

They learn how to disrespect without cheap energy. They can learn how to respect without cheap energy.

Once again, it's not about energy. It's about social values.

How is it that it's about everything but the behavior??

Do you think Harvey Weinstein didn't have access to youtube or printed materials? Or perhaps Kevin Spacey?

Well...it is Africa, so probably not.

It also has a lot to do with judges like Aaron Persky who give slaps on the wrist to rapists.

And America

Can you provide any evidence that the US politics or culture promotes rape and sexual assault??

Our laws/legal system, education system, politics and pop culture all seem to take a decidedly negative view of those activities as far as I can tell.
