Revolution!
2010:
Louis Tsavatsa grinned as he saw the last government troops mopped up by his successful insurgent army. They were surrendering en masse now, which was good. The capital was in rebel hands, and he was able to issue commands that much of the nation was following. However, he didn't have foreign recognition yet, at least not until the last enemy forces were cleaned up by his freedom fighters.
At 31, he was Chairman of the Supreme Executive Council of the Malagasy Revolutionary Movement and head of the new regime, though his exact title wasn't defined yet in the civil government. He would certainly enjoy his new power to get back at enemies and find more mistresses, though he had ideals as well. He would make Madagascar a more independent nation, less dependent on the French and other foreign powers for its survival. He would impose tariffs on foreign goods to boost industries.
He was no Communist. He was an economic nationalist, populist, and a protectionist opposed to the excessive globalization of the economy. He would take Madagascar out of the WTO and allow it to control its economic and political destiny. Most of all, he would beef up the military and acquire nuclear weapons as a deterrent to foreign intervention in his country's affairs....yes, affairs, that brought to mind a few lovely women in the capital that he recently saw. Perhaps they would make excellent mistresses.
Why, just look at that lovely girl! She stood not far from the Presidential Palace, begging for food, evidently because she was blind. Well, that would change, and not just because of policies of his regime. He would see to her personal welfare by taking her as one of his mistresses. Yes, a blind mistress, how unique!
Despite rejecting French influence, he still thought in French terms- a lover was called a mistress. Very French, though he would never admit it.
