<<CLOSED>>
Tala Janene Fargis waited in the doorway of the great Cathedral for the Priest to finish with his last minute instructions. The occasional creak and jingle of the Knight's men in their chain maile echoed throughout as they stood bored but patient.
The tall Knight absently ran his big hand up and down Tala's left arm as they stood side by side, paying close attention to how tomorrow's events would unfold. Finally the Priest released them, stating the practice had gone well and they could all be dismissed until the morrow.
Tala's heart sang with happiness as she gazed up into the dark brown eyes of her future husband. His own eyes glittered with longing and expectation, his whisperings in her ear turning her face crimson red.
As society dictated, her Knight placed her within his own personal carriage, taking to his horse at its side before departing the now darkened yard of the Cathedral. Several men at arms rode beside his carriage as well as forward to clear the way as they returned to her mother's humble holdings.
Her mother sat across from her, resplendit in her gown of blue, her white hair a shining halo above it. She looked tired but happy, just as Tala felt. They spoke in quiet voices on the long road home. Sometimes coming to tears, knowing their parting was but one more night away.
Tala's right hand twisted the big diamond around and around the third finger of her left hand. Tomorrow a band of gold would be added and she would be his, for all time. She could barely catch her breath thinking of their first wedding night together and put it from her mind least she faint right in the seat in front of her mother. As it was, she was sure her mother noted the red flush of Tala's face as daydreams danced within her head.
It was very late upon their return. Most of the servants had been sent to bed save their personal maids and the stable hand. Tala's mother excused herself, retiring to her end of the large but humble home. Tala's maid loosened the long tresses of her strikingly black hair, brushing it to its full length, hanging just below the long arch of her back. Releases the stays of her corset, then lifiting the white chemise over her head, Tala's maid bid her a good night before slipping from the room with a sleepy yawn.
The gown Tala wore was woven from the finest silk. Another gift from her bethrothed. She ran her hands down the silken sides, only allowing her fingertips a brief touch to her hardened nipples before drawing them away, blushing into the darkness. Vowing she would not sleep even for a second this night before her wedding day, she pulled the heavy down comforter back from her bed and slid within the cold sheets.
Within minutes, her exhaustion claimed her; sending her into a deep, peaceful slumber.
