Adewen Rider leaned back in her seat on the plane. Soon she would be back home in scottland with her family. She wished that Jack could have joined her they had been planning to go sence they had been married a few years ago, after college, but an accident at work had taken his life.

Closing her eyes Adewen fell asleep on the plain the flight was going to be a long one and she may as well rest up while she could.

Adewen stood 5ft 4in and weghed around 120lbs soaking wet she has long cruly brown sholder lenght hair and olive green eyes.

Meeting her parents in the lobby of the airport after the plain landed. She gathered her lugage and they headed for the mannor house..

The house was small compaired to most in the area only 5 akers of land that held a 6 bedroom and 2 bath house with 2 large flower gardens, a small seperat home for staff a vegetable garden and a fenced in small pasture and barn for chickens, rabbits, geese, ducks ect...

Adewn listend as her parents expressed their heart felt loss over Jack's death as they drove home. Were glad ye came home lass.. Were here for ye if ye need us.

She smiled at her parents knowing that they ment well and would be there to help her when she needed to talk or just needed a sholder to cry on. When she first got news of Jacks death she had been in shock... all the way thru the funaral and didnt cry until a few days later when it all hit full force, and she hadnt thought she would ever stop crying.

A few months later she had called her mother and father and told them about Jacks death and that she was comming home. I know ma i'll be fine i promise.. i've come home to heal.. she said in responce smiling sadly as they pulled into the drive and got out of the car.

Her father unloaded the car and Adewen helped him carrie her things into the house and up to her old room, her mom had gone to the kitchen to fix lunch, and check the messeges on the machine.

Thank you and mom both i dont know what i would do with out you.. she said as her dad sat down her sute case. When he streatend she gave him a hug and held on for a few moments needing the strenght in her dads arms.

Hearing her mom holler up the stairs Adewen smiled beginning to feel at home remembering simalar times when her mother or father would yell up the stairs to call them down if they were in trouble or simply because it was time to eat.

Seeing her mom standing in the door way Adewen still had the smile on her face... yes ma what its it? she asked seeing her mother wanted to ask something... well i got a call from our negbor and was wondering if you would be up for some guests this afternoon for lunch?

Adewen wasnt sure if she were ready or not but didnt want to hurt her mothers feelings ether.. Its ok you and dad go ahead and when i am done with a shower and changing cloths i'll come down and help.

Once her parents had gone Adewen stripped out of her cloths and went into the connecting bathroom and got into the shower.. The water felt good on her skin after the long plane and car ride..She closed her eyes and tryed to relax.

Adewen chose a light brown silk speggitti strap sun dress and matching brown sandles to meet their negbors in, It wasnt often her parents intertained, and she wanted to look nice for them.

She pulled her curly brown hair up into a bun out of her face leaving a few tendrels of hair hanging down. She decided on a gold pair of hoops for earings as her only jewlery.

Comming down stairs she smiled seeing the look of pride in her fathers eyes as she walked by his study, and went into the kitchen.

Smiling at her moms complements she put on an apron and helped her mother finnish fixing lunch, the table on the sun porch had already been set, and refreshments already made.

Hearing the door bell she knew their father would awncer the door so there was no need for them to rush.

Muscular, but quiet man. Malcolm hadd just lost his wife to cancer about a year ago, and was now looking for someone in his life again. He had grown up next door to Adewan Rider, and they have known each other all their lives. He has been visiting his parents, when they said that Adewan was home because she had just lost her husband. Malcolm knew what she was probably going through, and when he had heard that they were going over for lunch, he had a smile on his face. He couldn't wait to see Adewan again, if for anything, to help comfort her in her loss, being a friend. He would forget about his childhood crush on her for now, and be there as a friend. He knew that he needed it when he first lost his wife. He was the one who went over first and rang the bell. When her father answered the door, he smiled and asked. "Good afternoon Mr. Rider, is Adewan allowing visitors?" He smiled at the older man.

Adewens father smiled seeing Malcolm standing in the door way. aye she is. In fact i beleive she is in the kitchen with her mother at the moment come on in. Lunch is almost ready do you want something other than tea or limonaid? he asked inviting Malcolm inside.

It had been awhile sence her father had seen him. Infact the last time had been when Malcolm had introduced his wife to them shortly before she died. How have things been for you Malcolm, and your parents? he asked as they made their way twoards the sun porch where everything was set up.

Adewen helped her mother out of her aprin and then gave her mother her back so that she could help her out of hers before taking the last of the dishes out onto the sun porch.

Adewen wasnt sure who to expect knowing her mother it could be one of sevral negbors, but seeing her old friend brought tears to her eyes as she smiled. Malcolm had his back to her so it gave her a moment to compose her self and to set the dish down as she looked to see how much he had changed from when they were in school.

He was most defanetly taller now and had more mucle, his hair was still that woderful mixture of red and brown more red than brown the little bit of brown saving it from being a carrot red.

Hello Malcolm its been awhile... she hadnt reolized how much she had missed her friend until she saw him standing there with her father. Watching as he turned to face her she looked into his green eyes and smiled he was still as handsome as ever, and she hoped that she didnt disapoint him with the way she looked because she had come a long way from the skinny bean pole she used to be.. Now she was still skinny but acutally had curves to go with.

Reolizing that for the first time in awhile she hadnt thought about her husbend she wondered if that were a good thing or a bad thing, but decided not to think about it at the moment Malcolm was her friend and she was glad to see him.

"No, the Lemonade will be fine Mr. Rider, thank you tho." Then he heard her voice, and he turned smiling at the person behind him. He held out his arms to her, to be able to comfort a friend that had a hard loss like he had. --Wow she is still as beautiful as ever-- he thought to himself, as he held her in his arms in a hug. He had met her husband once when she had brought him over to meet her parents, and he liked the guy. He had been happy for her when they got married, and was sad to hear that he was gone.

"How are you doing? How are you holding up? I am doing good myself, just was over visiting my parents when they said about coming over for lunch." He smiled at her, and brushed a strand of hair out of her eyes.

I am doing about as well as can be expected. I've missed having you to talk to. she said looking up at him as he brushed a strand of hair from her eyes. She huged him close for a moment not seeing the look of hope pass between her parents before she released him and the door bell rang.

I'll be right back lad tis probly yer parents. Mr. Rider said as he excused himself to awncer the door once more and show Malcolm's parents in.
Her mother begain pooring drinks while Adewen greeted Malcolm's parents with hugs just as she had when they were both little.

Sitting down to eat lunch Adewen told them that she had been an art teacher in the states and was thinking of applying at the elementry to teach the students there after the summer was over. What about you Malcolm what have you been doing with out me to get you into trouble? she asked teasingly.

Malcolm looked at her and thought a minute. "I haven't been doing much since I lost Maddy, but been thinking about finding some new place to move to. I have been living a couple miles away for the last year, and am ready to move on. Is there any other openings for workers where your at in America. That way you can keep me out of trouble as you put it, and we can keep in touch better." He had some hope in his eyes, and didn't see the looks between the parents.

What he didn't know was that his parents had planned on having them come back together like this again. Either with her parents knowledge, or without it. He would say with it, if he was asked.

Well acually i wasnt planning on going back to america, but there are alot of job oppotunitys there,i'll come vist tho and keep an eye on you, but If you decide to stay here in Scottland i can keep you out of trouble even better. she said smiling even tho her thoughts had turned inword for a moment. It wasnt that she didnt like america, but there was so much there that still reminded her of Jack, and home was where she felt she needed to be for now.
