Heath walked down the familiar streets of his home town, taking in the sites and sounds and generally trying to adjust to the idea of being home again. It had been a busy school year and he and made lots of friends back at school and that felt more like home did now then this did.
He walked from the bus stop slowly, making his way back to his parents house, who were of course working and couldn't be bothered to pick him up. At least it was a bright and cloudless day. A light breeze blew his long blond hair into his face a little bit as he walked.
'Hmm tasty burger is still here...good to know it hasn't been shut down yet due to health code infractions' he though as he walked past the dead fast food restaurant. His stomach lurched a little as he recalled his last drunken meal there after graduation and how he had left most of it on the streets of town as him and his old friends drove around town. He thought back on that night more as he walked...it had only been 12 months ago but it seemed like a lifetime now. He hadn't seen or spoken to anyone in that group in months...well...except her.
His heart skipped a beat as he thought about his best friend, Alexis, and is if almost on cue his phone rang an all to familiar ring tone and he reached into his pocket.
"...hello..." he said suddenly nervous, a spark of fear and electricity coursing through him like he had never felt before.
"Yeah...I'm back...tasty burger...parents couldn't even be bothered to pick me up...you free to do the honors of giving me a ride? Its 5 miles yet to my house..."
