Nestled in the valley of Darias, on the King's Road between the mighty city of Madal and the prospering coastal town of Tarin, is the Grinning Griffin inn.
Renowned throughout the surrounding lands for its house wine, Dragonfire Red, made from certain, undisclosed berries picked in the surrounding forest, the inn is a favourite haunt of those who style themselves adventurers, merchants, and others, seeking their fortunes.
Because the inn is located in a hot-bed of goblinoid tribes and other troubles, a mercenary company called Jadar's Raven's is stationed permenantly nearby, paid out of the inn's profits. The commander of this company, Jadar, frequents the inn often, as do many of his warriors, when they are not on duty patrolling the surrounding area.
The previous owner of the inn, Farris, has recently retired to a large mansion in Tarin, leaving the inn now to be run by his son Harl, and his daughter Jeni, as well as several bar girls and the stablehand. Jeni, a young woman with long, dark hair, and a shapely figure, has been as much an attraction to the inn of late as the Dragonfire Red wine.
However, she is known to be involved with Jadar, and as such he has more than a passing interest in protecting the inn than just for the mercenary coins.
But recent events have shattered the usually peaceful, if boisterous, inn.
Goblins, under the commands of a daemon, attacked both the Raven's camp and the Grinning Griffin at the same time. Both attacks were a distraction for the real target - Jeni. Kidnapped, along with a pair of serving girls, from the inn, she has been taken to the goblins main camp. There, she has been the first to meet the daemon - a succubus, called Alia - and heard from the bewitching creatures own lips that her and Harl's father promised them to the succubus in return for a substance called 'dragonfire' - a powerful aphrodisiac, which he adds to the wine the inn is famous for. But the dragonfire is more than it appears - it is the daemons own juices, and they inflame not just a persons ardour, but increase her own power with each taste someone takes.
One of the serving wenches, Lissia, has managed to escape the goblin camp - naked and under the influence of a hearty dose of 'dragonfire', after braining a goblin who thought to take advantage of her lust-ridden state, and got more than he bargained for (but he had at a pleasant time before his death, at least)
Harl, the barkeep and Jeni's brother, is unconcious in his room, having been knocked out by Borgit, a goblin of unusual guile. Harl witnessed the kidnapping - the only one in the Griffin to have done so.
Current guests/people present at the Inn include:
Chala (myself), a powerful enchantress, a noblewoman with at least some elven heritage, able to cast mind-influencing magics and animate objects
Constantius, a noble paladin
Gwidion (Lightman)
Wysteria (LadyChance), a female drow/dark elf
Jadar (myself), the leader of the Ravens
Merayinne Rikkenmalle (Shila), an accomplished elven thief
Gaia (intriguess), the only female warrior in the Ravens, but a proven one
Morgana (dansemajik)
Other characters:
Alia, the succubus (myself)
Borgit, the goblin (myself)
Lissia, the serving wench who escaped the goblin camp
Those unnamed are free to be taken up by anyone intersted. If someone who is named does not wish to 'play' in this thread, please let me know, if you read this! I'm playing the 'myself' characters in third-person, to help further the plot...
The Inn patrons are currently celebrating the victory had over the goblins who attacked it... but Jadar, at least, is growing uneasy, finding Harl and Jeni conspicuous in their abscence from these celebrations...
