OOC: Hello again folks! I'm gonna start up another Darmus thread, but with this one I'm gonna base it on a different part of the planet, in a more northern region, with snow. LOL. Its gonna take place about 5 years after the first thread, and like before, if your interested in joining, jump on in!

Florin Bornsmith

The wind blew hard. The snow was stinging his face like tiny daggers. Florin pulled his wool cloak closer to his frail body. The town of Udgerdale was quiet this time of night, most folk in thier homes, warming themselves by a fire. Florin hastly made his way to the Inn, pulling his hood off as he enterd the door. His silver hair fell loosely agianst his shoulders, exposeing his ears. Murmmers could be heard through out the Inn, but Florin regarded them with a smile. "Ah, you folks have never seen an elf before? Well, then I'm pleased to be your first." he said in the most sarcastic tone he could.

Florin's slender frame made his way to the Inn keeper. Florin was about standard size for an elf, standing about 5 feet tall. His skin hung somewhat loosely off his bones, like he hadnt feed himself in days. The only bag he carried was his spellbook case.

He took his grayish colored wool cloak off and layed it on a bar stool next to him.

"What can I getcha?" asked the bartender. "Water, and a slice of bread is all I need." Florin said, pulling out some copper pieces.......

Lmfao. This is getting off to a good start. *Bashes the shit out of his comptuer*

Hi Achi:

A somewhat short man of slim build stood unobtrusively in the corner of the tavern, his long, jet black hair tied back in a tail and his cheek bones sharply defined as his slit like eyes piered through the smoke filled room. He had been at this tavern for a week now, working as a bouncer of sorts. The fair skinned elf that walked in drew his attention. The bouncer, Hi Achi felt a shift in the rooms atmosphere, from jovial to slightly guarded as everyone took in this new arivals presence.

"Here ya go, lad." the bartender said, laying the water and bread in front of Florin. Florin brushed him off with a wave, not looking up to see the bartenders obvious look of disdain.

Florin took a small sip of his water, and an even smaller bite of the bread, and pushed it aside. "This water is horrible, and the bread is stale!" he bellowed into the Inn. More murmmers came from the folk inside, but none moved to confont him. "And I'm supposed to find travellers in this hole....." he said softly to himself.

Turning on his stool, Florin surveyed the crowd...........

Hi Achi:

"Got quite a mouth on him, that Elf..."
"Warm water... Pfft, I'd like to see how warm his BLOOD is...."
"Royalty... Must be... As arogent as one..."

Hi Achi heard the comments, and they were only increasing... It wouldn't be long before a bar fight... He could see it coming already... Striding over to the Elf, Hi Achi casually took the bar stool next to him. Looking over at the elf as he ordered an ale, Hi Achi said. "Congradulations, in the bar barely five minutes and a fight is less than five more in coming..." Taking a small sip of the ale he had just received, Hi Achi winked as he gestured back toward a group of drunken warriors comming their way.

Florin Bornsmith

"Congragulations??? I dont even think those fools could lift a spear let alone do any potential damage to me." Florin said, waving his hand in the direction of the group. "And are you supposed to be my savior? Well, my new found friend, believe me, I can handle a few drunk soldiers." he said agian, giving a slight smirk as he reached for the stale bread. Taking off a small chunk, Florin took another small nibble and turned his view to the group of adventurers seated across the bar.......

Hi Achi:

"They couldn't... I agree there... But the moment you start the fight... All the others will gladly join in... I am sure..." Smiling softly to himself as Florin continued talking. "I'll sit this one out then?" He asked casually as the warriors pressed ever closer. Another minute and they would confront Florin.

hey

hey can u give me some info on this thread, i may want to join

Snake in the grass

OOC: Thanks again for the info, hear goes nothing.

Zhan stood ontop of the snowbank, stoking his thick beard while he observed his prey at the Inn. He didn't want to go through with his mission but the masters demanded it. It was fated to happen. His armor was so thick not even the northern winds could penetrate it. "If these people had a hard time getting rid of the masters before, then their in for a world of shock this time around." Zhan unsheathed his scimitar and headed toward the inn.

Hi Achi:

Leaning back against the bar as he watched the warriors surround Florin, Hi Achi took another sip of his ale, hiding his knowing smirk.

"Hey you!" One of them barked as he gripped Florin by the shoulder and spun him about to face them. "You think you're something special?" The warrior growled as he poked a finger into Florin's chest, challengingly.

Zahn attacks

Zahn kicked down the door to the inn to find that a fight had already broke out in the bar, causing a perfect distraction. He walked past the fight and towards the bar, ignoring the ruckuss. Zahn's big gloved hand picked up the bartender by the throat and threw him into a corner of the bar. "Give me the key now!" The bartender refused. Zahn raised his scimitar to the bartender, "Give me the key to the crypt now or you'll force me to use this!"

Bethesda Verlaine Van der Snoggenheim :D

She swept into the little and despicably dirty tavern, wrapping her rich furs around her more tightly. Daintily stepping over a fallen drunkard, she tapped the dirty looking ruffian with the sword thingy on the shoulder. "Pardon me, my good man. Might I have a word with the proprietor before you bash his head in? There's a good fellow."

Hi Achi:

Flipping over the bar with the barest of effort, Hi Achi huddles over the bar tender... The one who is to pay him. "Still breathing I see... Mind if I take my payment now? ...Good..." And with that, Hi Achi slipped a pouch full of gold and platinum from the bar keeps breast pocket and flung himself back into his seat, barely a minute passing between the moments... He smiled to himself then to Florin.

"You think you're somethin special?" spat the drunkin soldier.

"Well, as a matter of fact....I do. Now, if you dont mind getting your finger out of my chest....." Florin said. He closed his eyes, and let the sounds of the Inn drown away from him, forming a spell in his mind. His hands raised, and fingers pointed out. A brilliant flash of light came forth, and sent the man flying backward, into the table the rest of his friends sat at. Florin opened his eyes, a smile forming on his face. "Ah, another sucessfull attempt at entertaining the peasents. " The looks of awe from the people of the Inn made him smile that much more.

Looking to his side, Florin took notice of the events taking place before him at the bar. "A key my young friend? Is that what you seek? Well, then I am the man you should be speaking to, not the good man who serves us drinks. And I beleive this fine lady would like to acquire information before you make a very nasty mess, one I won't clean up, I might add." Florin said, taking a sip of his water......

Hi Achi:

Still smirking to himself as the drunk warrior flew across the room, Hi Achi took in the situation before him. He was only on his own side, but these few might be of service to that side for a time... Even if it were a diversion and access to more gold... He would uphold His ethics, but not many held with his type of ethics... After all, they were somewhere in the middle... A tricky place to be at any time... Especially in a fight...

Zahn held the bartender up over his head. He turned to Florin as he said, "Listen you drunk fool, you have no idea what your bartender is capable of, it is my destiny to get my key back, I urge you to sit over there and drink some more." He then turned his attention back to the bartender, "You remember me don't you? You created me! Now I have to do something I don't want to do or else I can't go back home."

Bethesda Verlaine Van der Snoggenheim

"Well if this just isn't the most infuriating!" She stomped her foot on the dirty floor and whirled around. "How on earth is a person supposed to get anything accomplished around here with all these disreputable persons insisting on causing trouble!"

Her eyes lit on a shorter man, broad of shoulder and trim in the hips. Well there was a nicely formed young man. He was extremely fair in the face, even his pointed ears added to his rakishly handsome looks. Pointed ears?

"Pardon me, good sir, but are you an elf?" The man was saved from answering when the original brute with the funny sword sheathed it and then hefted the barkeep over his head. Well that certainly was a strong person. Bethesda daintily stuck her handkerchief over her nose. Strong in more ways than one. Perhaps it was this horrid little tavern giving off such a reek. No, it was the barkeep. The man had just... all over himself and the other man... and it had fallen on... "Oh! My furs! You swine!"

She picked up a bottle from the bar and began beating the barkeep on the head with it. "You fiend! You beast! You, you horrible man! And to think that you were to gain possession of that beautiful black diamond key pendant. Not while I draw breath you ox! You- you- you pee- did something horrible on my new ermine!"

The large man threw the barkeep on the floor and turned his glare on her. Bethesda leaned over for one more good whack across the barkeep's head.

Crypt key

Zahn sneered at the tavern maid causing her to cower in the corner of the bar. He then turned his attention over to the bartender and said, "Where is it?" The bartender, beaten into submission by his own waitress pointed to the cash register.

Zahn walked over to the register and smashed it in half with his hand. Hundreds of gold coins scattered across the floor, causing everyone in the bar to jump to collect the funds. Zahn picked up the crypt key and walked out of the bar, leaving the patrons scrambling for cash.

As soon as Zahn got outside he took a large chunk of ice and placed it in front of the door, blocking any would be heros from stopping him. Satisfied with his hand work he headed south, towards the cemetary.

Florin Bornsmith

Watching the events unfold, Florin chuckled breifly, and took a nibble of his bread. "Why yes, my fair maiden, an elf I am." Florin said, "And I must say, you wield that bottle of brandy as if you were a bladesinger..." he said, with a mild smile toward the lady.

Florin continued to watch as the events unfolded. "What a strange man he is, isnt he? Ruffing up that poor bartender. And for what? A key?" Florin said, a hint of sarcasim in his voice. He followed the man with his eyes, and watched as he destroyed the register behind the bar. Florin watched as the man left, placing a large piece of ice in front of the door.

"And that is supposed to stop us? I believe this is the first time I've ever been insulted by frozen water." he huffed. Florin pulled his hair behind his pointed ears, and closed his eyes, drowning himself in the weaving of a spell. His hands and arms moved around, almost like forming a circle, and inside, red and orange colors began to appear....a fireball was forming inside his weave of magic. Florin opened his eyes, and pushed his hands forward, as far as they would go. A brillant ball of flame shot out, crashing into the door, exploding it into a thousand spinters. The ice block quickly melted away into a puddle on the floor. He turned to the lady and said "My dear, I do believe we should depart? Before....how shall I say, the roof comes down in us?".........

Cemetary

The bitter cold made it difficult for Zahn to reach the cemetary, a snowstorm had developed making it difficult to navigate through the snow. As he entered the cemetary, he realized that others may be after the key and quickly changed the color of his skin to camaflouge the snowy banks. He was almost undetectable now, he was invisible and the snowstorm covered his footprints.

He reached the south end of the cemetary, were the mosoleums were, and stopped in his tracks. He had forgotten which tomb he was supposed to enter, "Which one is it?"

Hi Achi:

As the tavern's patrons frantically rushed out of the building Hi Achi casually walked after them. He stood outside, waiting for the arrogent elf to come out. "Ah, there you are... What took you so long?" He said matter-of-factly then turned to look at the maid at his side. "Ah, that would be it I see." He added as he gave the lady a nod. Just then, the bars roof caved in with a thundering crash. "Something tells me thats not the first bar you've left in ruins..." Hi Achi sighed as he ran his fingers through his jet black hair.

"Well if this just isn't the most reprehensible thing my step-mother has done to me then I don't know what is. I swear, she has me gallivanting all over the kingdom for no good reason at all hours of the night." Bethesda stuck her chin in the air, straightened the steel in her spine and took the elf's arm. It was only appropriate that he escort her like the lady that she was from the horribly disreputable tavern. "She had apparently been the barmaid or some horribly disreputable thing here at some time. My father, God rest his soul, must have lost his mind when he married the woman. Honestly, as if he could replace mother with a trumped up barmaid."

She paused while the two men accompanying her gaped at her like she was some sort of circus oddity. Really, they could catch a chill gape mouthed like that. "She stole a very valuable piece of property from the barkeep in there. Horrible man, really. He pee- er, did something horrible on my furs. I swear, I'll have to get rid of this coat it reeks like a man had just pee- er, did something horrible on it. I cannot be seen with a coat that's covered in pee- er, something horrible. Is there a furrier in this village? I hope he's a good furrier, I certainly wouldn't be caught in anything less than the best. This is a genuine Valdimer, caught by the great man himself." She nodded to add credence to this. "I still can't believe my father lowered himself to marry that wench even if she did save his life, not once but twice, and bore him a pair of twins. I swear, those boys are nothing but trouble."

Bethesda paused at her travelling coach. The two men passed a look between themselves. One ventured in the break in her chatter, "My la-"

"Now this nonsense about some stupid key. Anyone can see that it's a very valuable black diamond that woman stole. And from that barkeep? I rather think not, that man hasn't more than two crowns to rub together. I am most certainly not relinquishing that treasure to that cretin no matter what that woman says. I shan't be calling her mother either. She is not my mother, she isn't even old enough to be my mother. It is truly embarrassing, I have no idea how I'm going to hold my head up at court with a woman only a few years my elder calling herself mother. If she were truly my mother she would have passed that key into the family's keeping and not left it where she did, I can tell you that. A black diamond as big as a man's fist belongs on a chain round a beautiful woman's throat. I am certainly a beautiful woman."

She looked at her companions who were giving each other a speaking look. She frowned. "I said," she fairly bellowed, "I am certainly a beautiful woman, aren't I?"

"M-"

"Of course I am, any fool can see that. My name, by the by, is Bethesda Verlaine Van der Snoggenheim. Of the Weatherhamshire Van der Snoggenheims. My father is the Duke of Snoggenheim. I require a better escort than that lout." She shot an evil look at the man sitting on the driver's seat of the coach. "Would you two need work?"
