In ancient times, Espers were mysterious beings that fueled legends of monsters, spirits, and gods. They seemingly vanished, becoming nothing more than myth -- until now. When an archaeological dig uncovers an ancient relic, it is revealed that the Espers interbred with humans and that a small percentage of the populace has dormant magical potential. This uncovered relic -- a sort of key -- awakens the Esperblood of any descendants who come near it.
My character will be a college student who is being mentored by the archaeologist in charge of the dig and the first one to develop powers. But the process is slow, and so he doesn't realize what's happening until he has already traveling with the relic back to the United States through JFK Airport, inadvertently awakening the powers of any descendants who came within a few hundred feet of the Key. As their latent magical potency begins to develop, they are drawn to the Key, and together our characters try to discover the truth of their bloodlines.
