Has anybody used it? I just started using it a week ago, and woke up this morning with a chemical burn about the size of a quarter above my lip.

It will burn you until you get use to it,go lightly at first.

But to be honest,I have seen no improvement using it.

Morgy, do you think I could be using too much?

Also, I just read the little pamphlet and noticed it said to wait 20-30 minutes after washing face to apply. I haven't been doing that.

I would try to follow the directions to a 'T'. I read everything you post Dahlin...I know you are an avid suncreen user. Me...I am pretty dark right now... hell I am always dark, but I have very sensitive skin. I stopped using it and I use either gylcolic (sp?) cream or Vit E cream that my grandmother swears by.

My skin was always too sensitive for prolonged use, but my sister had a friend in high school who used it daily...and her skin was *flawless*.

I've been told that the burn/sensitivity is typical and that eventually you get past that and your "new skin" starts to show...

I never had the patience for it.

Yes, wait at least a half hour after washing your face.
Also, don't use any benzoyl peroxide or salicylic acid containing products while using the retin A. Could cause dryness of your skin.
Go easy on the application. Like the old Brylcreem ads. "A little dab'll do ya."

But your doctore should have told you all this when he prescribed it for you. Or did you get it OTC?

Definitely stay out of the sun. That stuff will affect all your skin, making you sensitive to sunlight and prone to sunburns. For me, after about 15 mins in the sun, my skin started to burn and itch. Very unpleasant, but a minor side effect.

IAnd damn, a chemical burn and red yukky eyes, you poor thing.

You have no idea how beautiful and sexy I feel right now with this burn on my face and my weepy, goopy, blood shot eyes. Kiss me baby.

Morgy, thanks. Yes, I literally don't walk from my front door to my car without sunscreen. If I'm going to be outside for more than 5 minutes, I put on a hat too. *sigh* I so regret the time I spent sunworshipping in my youth.

Love, how long have you been using it? I want to lighten brown spots, freckles, whatever you want to call them. Wouldn't kill me to get rid of some fine lines too. The examples they show in the booklet are so dramatic! I'm not holding my breath though.

I hear ya, red rose. I'm into instant gratification too, but this was cheaper than the laser.

April, actually my doctor didn't explain anything to me. He just wrote the script. Should I stop using my moisturizer with alphahydroxy?

Almost every cosmetic company makes skin lighteners now. That can fade freckles and sunspots.

Ruby, I'm thinking you should stick to soap and water above the neck for a while. lol Your luck doesn't seem to be in the area of good lately.

Edit for oops!

You're still a sexy bitch though. Just call them vampire eyes.

Yes. Stop now. It's overkill. Like double dosing.

Your doctor is a fuckwit of the first order. Do what DA says. Use every other day. Even every third day if every other is too much. Find yourself a basic, no added stuff moisturizer.

I have been using it for 4 months to remove dark patches. It has done nothing so far.

Thanks everybody for your input. I will try for every other day now, and see how it improves.
