If this is painfully obvious and/or in an FAQ somewhere, then apologies. I'd like to make some edits to a couple stories that are posted. How do I "resubmit" a story? If I do resubmit, do the votes and the reads and the comments reset? Does the story reappear as new?

Just want to understand how to resubmit, and if I do, what the implications are.

Thanks!

This is what the submissions FAQ has to say about that:

"No problem! Simply submit the new version as you submitted the old one, only adding the word "EDITED" to the title (ex. "My Sexy Firefighter Ch. 03 - EDITED") so that we know to replace the old text with the new text. We will then replace the original text with the new text. Your story will retain its previous voting score and views."

Simple enough! Thank you!

Are you resubmitting because the story was rejected? If so, simply resubmit it without comment.

If you have changed the story submit it as normal but in the Title line put

Gwendolin's Pussy (or Whatever)-EDIT

It was a resubmit...did it w/ no issues, thanks.

However, I had some punctuation issues on several stories, which were kicked back...some I was able to fix and resubmit w/ no prob, but on two of them, I was told a story was already submitted under that name...rather than try to figure out what I did wrong, I just altered the title slightly and it took it...

I should be fine, now, thanks!

There are hundreds of stories posted here with the same title. I didn't think it was a prob. It wasn't you using the same title was it?

Conceivably, we could each submit a story entitled, say, "The Hunt for Red Cocktober", and they'd both be posted with the same name. I'm sure there are lots of situations like that.

What was weird is that when I resubmitted the stories, three of them were just fine. But for two of them, I was told I had already submitted a story under that name, and to please use a different name. So, rather than figure out what I did that was different when I submitted those two, as I thought I'd done them all the same way, I just said eff it, and renamed them. That's how My Sister Sasha became My Dear Sister Sasha...

Ah, as Elfin noted, then, it was because you submitted two of your own stories with the same title. As Elfin said, there are lots of duplicate titles here--of stories posted years apart. On another thread, a poster identified a title of his as "Blindman's Bluff." I looked and there are 8 identical "Blindman's Bluff" titles on Lit. covering a two-year period.

At the beginning when I was constructing titles, I didn't bother to check for duplicates. Now I do.

Good safety tip! I got dibs on "Hunt for Red Cocktober", though! ;)

Still, I thought I had resubmitted all five the same way...guess not...musta bit the time of day...thanks!

It's just as possible the duplication wasn't notice by the editor in one instance but it was in the other. They (she?) pushes through a whole lot of stories each day.

Hehehehe Remember the Halloween Contest last year? We all submitted different stories with the exact same name. :D
