Depends, what are you bringing to the table?

I don't mean buy me drinks or provide a hole...but what can you genuinely bring, are open to bringing, on a 1st date? If the chemistry doesn't work can we drink & laugh and exchange tales of dating nightmares or are you going to be "polite" and just bail home? If it does work, am I going to notice or are you going to keep being 'civil' and watch me dance like a trained monkey to keep you entertained or are you actually going to engage me like a woman to a man?

Contrary to popular opinion, dating for men is just as hard as dating is for women (we'll argue on which one is rougher no doubt )

I just like to be ENGAGED by my companions, even if we both know we're not going home together.

You'd think that would be easy.

ENGAGED is exactly what I'm looking for. If you're not an ass, I won't be one. And very little is more enjoyable than good company willing to share a meal or drinks and laugh or talk deep.

I'm not interested in a trained monkey who thinks he knows what a woman wants to hear. I'd rather we be human to each other and get right to the heart of the matter. I'm not interested in wasting your time by being something I'm not, and I expect the same.

Are there rules? Yes. Of course.
Don't lie to me. I'm not going to lie to you. What's the point? Lies do no one any good.
Be excellent to each other. The world would work so much better if we could all just manage to do that.

Anything else? We figure out along the way.

I think that there's a reasonable supply of sincere, interesting, and promising men around Lit, but perhaps not so many who are trawling in the personals section. There are some very thoughtful posts by men on a number of threads. But some of us aren't quite sure what we're looking for and aren't inclined to send PMs indiscriminately...

Can't give you faith. It comes from within. I think if you look for and expect to see bad people they meet your expectations. If you believe people are generally good and look for good in them you find that too.
