You are responsible for your own happiness. Do you believe it? Or do you rely on others for your happiness?

Yes, I believe it. Life is what you make it, and all that. Others can bring some happiness into your life, but it really comes down to you on if you'll be happy or not.

Damn, and I thought that was me.

I'm 50-50 on that, because I have people that make me happy and things that make me happy.

Since I cant control the people... it's 50-50.

gotta agree with Ren

life is what you make it.
others can only enhance your happiness.
i have learned not to sweat the small stuff in life and no matter how many problems i may encounter, there is always someone with worse problems than mine.

That's a variation of something my dad taught me as a child that I still remind myself of often. No matter how good you think you are at something, there will always be someone better than you.

And batter- yours is my favorite signature pic on the board- I wonder if that is you with the towel every time I see it. All the other dollies, etc can go away. YOUR pic can stay. :)

Believe it? Oh hell yes!! There is no greater dissappointment than having placed your ability to be happy and carry a positive outlook on life, in someone elses hands, and then being cast off to drift aimlessly in hopes of finding another wellspring source of happiness.

Rely on others? No way, nope, not again in this lifetime. There are people and things that I am delighted to be around or be with. Are they responsible for my prolonged happiness? Nope, at best they can contribute to short lived feel good feeling. I, alone, am in charge of my continued happiness, as well as the ramdom blue funk, these days.

The older I get, the more I realise that other people, places, and/or things can only make a contribution to the way I feel.

I love the fact no one really knows who I am. To be brutally honest, I am happy with what I have achieved, I am not necessarily happy with who I am. I unfortunately seem to fall into the trap of letting another control a certain portion of my happiness. Wish I didn't, but I do.

I believe that I am the only one responsible for my happiness, and it comes from inside. These days so many people look for the "quick fix," the pill that will make them happy, the drugs, the addictions that will make them happy. I say: look within yourself and learn to accept who you are, even if your accomplishments are small, or you really wish that one tooth wasn't chipped, or that you had lighter hair, or you just wish you were a little braver. It really is about how you view yourself, and if you accept yourself. Fitting into other molds is almost impossible for the psyche. It's not who you are, it's only a facade. Find pleasure in little things, like sitting on the porch with the one you love while watching a thunderstorm roll in, or listening to music that inspires you. Create something that you can call your own, a painting, a weird little knick-knack. These are the details that make life worth while. And I truly believe it.

This sounds like that weird song about graduating and going into the world... who sings that?

Scylis

This is something you have to find within yourself. No one can tell you where to look or how to find it.

like i said... i'm screwed.. years of being told i need to do better or that i should do better, no matter how well i did, b/c i was "really smart" has effectivly purged from me the ability to be satisfied with what i do..

Damn.. I forgot to post the second part of what I was thinking..

If you arent happy with yourself, how can you be happy with anyone else??

Just my .005 for today..

You can grow out of it, don't automatically assume that you are helpless, or you'll soon become what you think you are.

Yes, life is what you make of it. Nothing comes for free, absolutely nothing.
Happiness is what you have when you are on the right track.
