I'm not sure if you will read this, (I hate anonymous feedback for this very reason).

the portrait of a disturbed mind is not very sexy

if i understand correctly, she jilted him for a married man, he walks out on the balcony, imagines a destructive spiral of the next few days in his mind, and then jumps off his ex-girlfriend's balcony/suicides? did anyone else get that?

I suppose you could look at it like that, I originally wrote it to be actual events, however in writing the ending as I did I found myself thinking the same thing. I purposefully did not change anything to enforce or take away this interpretation. However when I read it I picture his "stepping off" as his body letting go of his soul after his OD. His mind is on his g/f balcony.

makes me think he was mentally disturbed BEFORE he got together with his ex-girlfriend. but we are not told that.....

He would have to be. In my opinion too much back story on information on this would have ruined the ending. There are hints throughout it that he was already disturbed. His neediness of her and when he says, the 'everythings gonna be all right voice was never very strong(paraphrase) showed a trend towards possible underlying depression before.

I really appreciated the feedback and felt I had to reply. Please anonymous in Kalifornia, step forward when giving feedback. I enjoy being able to discuss my work with readers.
