Response time

I submitted a poem nearly three weeks ago, and it still says "pending" and the original submit date. Has it taken that long for anyone else before, and is there any way to contact them about it? (I'm an English major, so I know poetry departments are usually understaffed.)

I haven't submitted a poem in a long time, until yesterday. In the past it was fairly usual for poetry submissions to be in pending for days longer than the stories. Three weeks, however, seems long.

(Make sure you're not editing or even previewing the poem once it's submitted.)

I doubt there's a poetry department or even a poetry person. Laurel is the one person who does all the stories and the usual advice given is to send her a PM.

Really? Laurel reads that much of this stuff every day? That would drive me bonkers!

Don't know, but I suspect she has software scanning for key words and phrases, and also that she gives each story a quick scan for obvious issues, perhaps less so with authors she sees often.

Why poetry is so much slower, I don't know.

For some months, poems and artworks take longer, especially during the story contests, but usually they'll go online after some time. So, patience really is the key, currently.

I had a poem published in the 18th of January that I submitted in early January. I have a couple others waiting for publication -- one I submitted on the 17th and one I submitted on the 25th.

It's just been taking a long time lately. It's discouraging. But yeah, I try my best to be patient.

Poetry is my favorite section here on Lit. I really wish somehow the poems could be published more quickly and that the poetry section could get more attention.

The two I've had in pending since 17th Jan went up today, I'd forgotten what they were it's been so long

They were originally from 10th Jan but I deleted and resubmitted after a week ( I know I know it was daft but I was convinced something had broken but it just sent me back to the back of the line.)
