Hi, all.

As an author posting for the first time to this site, I'm curious about customs and practices.

I enabled 'public comments' for my first submission because it seemed rude not to, and because I really do want to hear comments of all sorts, especially constructive criticism.

So now I've gotten some public comments, and I'd like to treat them as the start of a dialog with the commenters (ors?). Is it appropriate to add my own public comments to the story, in response to an initial comment? Since these aren't threaded it seems like it could get out of control.

Or is there some place I haven't located where these comments become part of one of the threaded forums?

I'd appreciate any advice.

Nico

I have seen authors post comments to their won stories. However, if the poster does not leave an email address, it's likely she doesnot wish to engage indkialogue, so you may be out of luck. I suffer the same frustration :(

Just respond to the ones who do leave addresses.

Sorry I do nt have better advice. It is VERY frustrating no to be able to correspond with a person who leaves a comment.

Public comments -

are different than emailed feedback, I believe.

I always try to answer the mailed feedback (when they include a return address, anyway).

I usually don't send replies to the Public Comments, however. It's a different sort of way to receive feedback, and when I leave a PC I don't expect a reply.

Congratulations on your well-received submissions!

:)
