Well if this isnt a violation of first amendment and cruel and unusual punishments i dont know what is

"MySpace Profile Lands Man Unusual Sentence"

A Nashville man will serve an unusual sentence thanks to comments he posted on MySpace.com.

Last year, Bean was convicted of burglarizing a vehicle and coercion of a witness.

As part of his sentence, he must stand outside the courthouse and hold a special sign.

“I feel like I got sentenced more for something I said on MySpace.com than for what I was actually there,” Bean told News 2.

Bean’s MySpace.com profile references guns, violent videos, gang references and a slur against the police department.

It was his MySpace.com page that influenced Judge Fishburn during sentencing.

He gave Bean a rather unusual sentence.

Every other Thursday, for the next two years, he must stand outside the courthouse, rain or shine, and hold a sign that reads, “Respect the police. They are not pigs as stated on my MySpace page"

The other side reads, “There is nothing funny about guns and nothing cool about gangs.”

Fishburn said he based the sentence on Bean's testimony that he has gone through a transformation since his conviction.

He said, “My thoughts were that this would either re-enforce what he was testifying to, and confirm that his transformation occurred, or it would quickly show that he was not being candid with the court.”

Bean, however, said it will only make things harder for him.

“It was hard enough to get a job as a convicted felon, much less now I got to say every other Thursday I can't do it ‘cause I gonna hold a sign for four hours,” he said. “Rain sleet or snow or whatever, I guess I'm just gonna have to stand out there and do it.”

Judge Fishburn said he will make sure he shows up.

“I'll just look out the window every other Thursday and see if he's there,” he said.

If Bean does not show up every other Thursday as part of his probation, he could serve up to two years in jail.

Police are pigs. That's why it takes them so long to respond to a 911 call.

Long live the 2nd amendment.

In that situation, he ain't.

That kid will commit another crime one day and then learn that holding a sign outside beats getting his ass ripped open in prison.

Not because of the punishment itself, but because of what the sign has to say by Judicial Order.

That seems entirely wrong to punish someone for their own freedom of expression.

The sign should read "This is what happens to Burglars and Thugs".

Or something.

I'd be much more supportive of this 'punishment' if it happened on the weekend. Harming someone's ability to hold down a job doesn't benefit society.

Law Enforcement used to be an honorable profession until politicians morphed them into nothing but armed cashiers and thugs.

If every one of them disappeared tomorrow I wouldn't shed a tear........

BTW- I was a military cop..
